Question for Italians

Hi Guys,

I have a question if anyone can help (especially those that have already attended an interview). We just received our Pack 3 for the K1 visa interview and I am a bit lost as to what is required at this point.

The instruction says to fill and send the DS-130, DS-156 and the attestation forms in order to schedule the interview, however, in the DS - 156 form, it states that we are required to attach our birth certs, police certs, evidence of finacial support etc, does this mean we should send all of these BEFORE scheduling the interview or can we take them with us top to the interview.

I guess what i am trying to clarify is if these forms are required to be sent TOGETHER with the pack three forms BEFORE the interview. Any clarification on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I don't know how it works but you could read some reviews about the consulate. Some of those reviews give more information that you'd expect.

there is no DS-130 BUT THERE IS A 1-130,you can send a noa-1 797 from the 1-130 receipt notice of action that you got after you sent the 1-130.click on the italy embassy info to see what is packet 3,you filed for the 1-129f k-1, so then there is NO 1-130.

I have read the boards but I probably I am reading the wrong info because everyone seem to mention to take the certificates to the interview, and not before that. I only need to verify if it is necessary to send them before the interview as well.....oh well, I guess I will just keep searching the boards till I find an answer.

You are right, my mistake. It is DS-230 not DS-130. I am not sure which forms these others are that you mentioned, they are not included in the pack I was sent. My concern is regarding the for DS-0156K and the related certificates.

I got Packet 3 in September. Everything was explained in the instructions in the packet - read them carefully. Unless they changed very recently, you need to complete form DS230, Part I, and fax it to the Consulate. After they've acknowledged the receipt you can fix an appointment by calling the Visa Service Center. Bring everything else to the interview.

I was thinking, since it doesn't seem like you have to send any document to hard to get, why don't you just get copies and send it and bring it to the interview or whenever you need to go to the consulate? What could possibly happen if you send unneeded documents?

The first Pack three we downloaded from their website ios apparently obsolete (that was what they told us when they sent us an updated version. The old one requested only the DS-230 and the attestation forms to be filled and sent top them in order to fix an appointment. This one seems to indicate all these other documents as addition. what I was unsure of is if they need them before the interview (it is not clearly stated) and if so, if copies will do.

I was thinking, since it doesn't seem like you have to send any document to hard to get, why don't you just get copies and send it and bring it to the interview or whenever you need to go to the consulate? What could possibly happen if you send unneeded documents?

Giovanna, you are right, it won't hurt to send more info than needed. I think I will just send copies and take down the originals with me.

Packet 3 was emailed to me and some of the files in there were dated 2007 or 2010. Nevertheless, I followed those instructions (faxed only ds230 part 1 first, and then took everything they require to the interview) and was approved one month ago without a problem.
