So starting from February 1st they'll ask to pay a new fee. How is that even possible?! I filed my petition 19th June and still have no news, I will probably not be able to go back home before 1st February and won't be able to pay the fee either since I am on an extremely tight budget (like a lot of other people too). I was wondering, besides the fact that this whole new fee is not fair, isn't it like border line legal?

I am so FUDGING MAD! I am spitting poison! I feel so frustrated and so mad, this whole process is taking forever and it feels like a joke.

I HATE HATE HATE Vermont!

And how exactly is the new fee "not fair"? :bonk:

Also, did you mean border line illegal? Either way, yes it's fair and yes it's legal.

PS: Don't hate on Vermont. It's a beautiful state.

where is home?

where are you now ?

If you've been in Italy more than 6 months - what's up with filing a DCF'd I-130 to Naples IV Unit ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

They have changed the fees many times over the last few years. I wouldn't be suprised to see them go up more during budget balancing. No one wants to pay for someone elses immigration.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Hi, in my opinion is not fair to those people that have been waiting for more than the normal processing time. It's been 6 months now and nothing changed. If I still won't be home the 1st February I will have to pay more money that I haven't planned for. Yes my budget is so tight that sometimes I have to chose if I want to pay bills or buy food (I'm sure I'm not the only one) and being apart from my husband is putting us in a very tough situation. Spending more money on new fees will mean we'll have to ask family help. A lot of people (like me and my husband) live apart and on a single tight budget, a lot of us are beyond the processing time and paying more than originally "planned" is not fair to us.

Why didn't they charge us when we applied? It's like buying a car, signing the lease and finding out the day before the pick up that you have to pay more. I'm sorry I really think it's unfair and almost "illegal" (by almost illegal I mean morally unacceptable but acceptable according to the laws).

And I don't hate Vermont as state. I'm sure it is a beautiful place and people are wonderful citizens. I just HATE the office in Vermont and how slow it works.

Home to me is in the states with my husband. I am right now in Naples in Italy. What's DFC? Maybe the paperwork when both petitioner and beneficiary are abroad?

Just wondering, when is this fee now due and where does it have to be payed? Does it get payed after the foreign fiance(e) gets here or before the case is approved in their foreign consulate?

01/15/12 - Sent Aya a message on a dating site
03/10/12 - We became "exclusive"
03/15/12 - We told each other "I love you"
08/17/12 - 2 week trip to the Philippines to be with her
08/27/12 - I asked her to marry me (in Cebuano), she cried and said yes
09/02/12 - I came back to the USA

Started on the paperwork

09/22/12 - Mailed I-129F
09/25/12 - Saw on USPS that the package was delivered in Texas
09/28/12 - NOA1
10/08/12 - Received hard copy NOA1
12/19/12 - CFO Counseling Session (to get it out of the way)
04/27/13 - NOA2
05/06/13 - NVC Received and MNL # assigned
05/21/13 - Medical Exam Day
06/04/13 - Interview Day

Doesn't apply to you as you're a K1. It's only for "immigrant visas" and the K1 is not an immigrant visa.

So can I pay this fee once I'm in the states and back with my husband? Or does it have to be paid before I leave the UK? Also, does anyone know if it's quick and automatic to pay? Or will it take a while to 'process'?

I'm hoping to leave ASAP after my interview and really don't want anymore hold ups

Calm down, Grasshopper. No one WANTS to pay more money but its just a fact of immigration. I understand you're angry but that honestly wont help :(

If you seriously dont have the money, just ask your family. I dont know how far you are into the visa process but the fee's only get bigger....My husband shelled out $700 for a medical interview. Just an example.

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!
