Hi I was recently approved for the k1 visa, and now it is the next step to get married. My question is that do we have to perform the ceremony? I am India and we are not ready for the big marriage (can't effort). so can we just get the marriage license and start our immigration process? or do we have to have traditional marriage for the proof?

:help:

Once you arrive in the US, your only obligation is to secure the appropriate marriage license, have a qualified officiant perform the ceremony (and have witnesses if that's required), have them complete their portion of the license, and then get it back to the county clerk to obtain a marriage certificate. You can get married in a courthouse, for example. It doesn't have to be a big, formal affair.

The visa is good for 6months. After your arrival you then have 90 days to get married. You can have a small ceremony first, and then a big celebration later when you have the money. Many people have done this.
