Well Scott, assuming most of us on here have the IQ of at least a peanut I'm going to guess the school district will contract the work out to a security firm that can show the background if it's employees including any and all military, police, gun safety, etc...

Not sure how they do it in Scotland, but here I'm going to have to say they go with trained personal. Kind like how the police do it, fire dept. does it, doctors, dentist, lawyers, airplane pilots, plumbers, welders, etc.... oh and even teachers.

But if you don't want your children protected...pull them out of any school that has armed security. That way the shooters know what school will have the easiest targets.

personally, i do not want to live in a police state. this would be a nice step towards that, right along side privately owned prisons conducting mass searches of children in school. for all this sh*t that's been posted here about what medications kids are on, how about a nice list of all the instances of misuse of force by a police officer.

The security at Logan airport in Boston was handled by a private security firm on September 11th 2001 and look how that turned out.

I'm sure there will be hoards of nutbags with guns scouting all the schools to see what one has the weakest security. The ones without guns will probably have 3 massacres a week.
