Its what I call an incentive tax. The NRA made the suggestion so let them pay for it. I would create a special tax on guns and ammo. Dont like it then get rid of your guns.

I'd rather see a program where the federal government gives everyone the ability to give up firearms not in common use in the late 1700s. And if they do, they get a gift card to a grocery store for fair market value.

Post of the day right there teddy.

School districts all over the country have been mentioning armed security guards, police, etc... along with other measures in order to protect the children. The NRA only suggested what has been mentioned ad nauseum since this recent shooting.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Given the fact that our communities are awash in weapons, there may not be much of a choice. Metal detectors with the security personnel necessary to enforce them may be a foregone conclusion.

Personally, I'd like to see every school district devise its own security procedures and have the community pay for it via school taxes. That way communities can decide how much security they need and how they want to do it.

Fine. This needs to be funded and it should be funded by an ammo tax or gun tax. I think 25% sales tax is a good figure to start with.

Metal detectors in schools have been around for years now in some of the larger school districts. A lot of different idea's have been thrown around this past week by schools, parents, and politicians. From armed security guards, to police officers, to safe rooms, locked doors, etc... The armed security guard would be the most cost effective imo yet do the most good in regards to prevention.

NRA are a bunch of clowns. If this was really ever considered I would hope that the government create a special Tax for all gun owners to pay for this stupid idea.

We already have an armed police force in Schools where I live. I live in thug nation Middle ga. The BOE here has it's own police force.

And these incidents usually do not occur in districts that have them.

Of course, you'll still need armed personnel. Without them, a killer could simply walk through the detectors as they went beep beep beep.

There may even be a good argument for fewer, larger schools and designing each super-school the same way we design airports.

Good, then everyone that pays taxes yet does not have children in public schools should stop paying any kind of tax that would help fund said schools.

I see it's a trickle down effect. Anything but the guns! Morons! :bonk:

So how do you stop a bad guy with a gun, if not with a gun ?

So what about movie theaters? Should we start having armed police officers outside of them too? What about disgruntled employees who come into work and blow away a few coworkers? Let's just have armed police officers in cubicles.
