WASHINGTON — The nation's largest gun-rights lobby is calling for armed police officers to be posted in every American school to stop the next killer "waiting in the wings."

The National Rifle Association broke its silence Friday on last week's shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that left 26 children and staff dead.

The group's top lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre, said at a Washington news conference that, quote, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Great. America will be soon like a third world country, where the security guard holding a sawed-off shotgun in front of almost every public entrance doubles as the doorman. No need for automatic doors.

I see it's a trickle down effect. Anything but the guns! Morons! :bonk:

Court houses have armed security guards, larger banks, Federal buildings, airports, etc... and some schools have had them for awhile now so what's the big deal?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Seeing you're a 3 time felon, I'm sure being surrounded by armed guards is the norm for you. But I would gather that most parents of grade school kids would think otherwise.

Most parents don't wan't protection for their children at school? Rocket scientist Teddy?

Let's take a poll with the parents of children that attend or did attend Sandy Hook elementary and ask them.

Good point. They're building huge American-style malls in India these days. I went to India earlier this year and the interiors look like anything you'd find here (but newer and nicer) with one difference - security. Every car is searched before allowed into the underground parking garage. Every bag you have is searched before you are allowed in. And the large department stores won't even let you enter with any bags - they must be checked in with security.

What I found a little amusing was that the female security guards were more intimidating than the male ones. The men were all no more than 100-110 pounds. The women were huge. And mean. You could see the evil in their eyes

NRA are a bunch of clowns. If this was really ever considered I would hope that the government create a special Tax for all gun owners to pay for this stupid idea.

Then lets also consider taxing only the parents with children in public schools. Why should anyone but those parents have to pay taxes, bonds, etc... to support schools if they don't have children in them?

Its what I call an incentive tax. The NRA made the suggestion so let them pay for it. I would create a special tax on guns and ammo. Dont like it then get rid of your guns.

Most parents don't want any guns in their schools. I be willing to bet that even after this tragedy, most of the parents from Sandy Hook would still be agains guns in school.

Why don't you go down and ask them? I can see it now. "Hello Mrs. so and so, sorry to hear about your 6 year old. My name is Kip, I'm a gun nut with 3 felonies under my belt, can I ask you a few questions?"

Post of the day right there teddy.
