ignorance is bliss. ;) congratulations!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

As soon as the green card arrives, you can throw away the AP and EAD card. (I saved mine as a souvenir).

Since your wife will probably get a conditional green card, she will still have to deal with removing conditions 3 months before the 2nd anniversary of her green card.

Congratulations and best wishes!

What will we need to do to go on vacation out of the country? Can she get a passport or does the "green" card work?

Congratulations on the approval---now you have some catching up to do!

NEVER throw away any immigration paperwork. You'll want it again at the most unlikely times. However, the Green Card trumps all other documents until a Naturalization Certificate.

Having a Green Card means that the immigrant is now a Permanent Resident. You should both read the following to understand her rights and responsibilities as an LPR/Legal Permanent Resident.

That one might seem kid of dorky, but it really has some good info in there.. I recommend it to any VJer whether they are in the US already or not.

US passports are for US citizens. Your wife may be eligible to apply for US citizenship in as little as three years from now, provided she meets the requirements. I posted an explanation in the pinned post in the US Citizenship Forum here at visajourney. Please encourage her to look ahead to that.

Your wife is not yet entitiled to a US passport and will travel on her home country passport(including the need for visas, based on the country she visits). She will always need her Green Card to enter the US.

If you have been married for less than two years, you will also have another form to complete in about 2 years from now. Please review the instructions for Removing Conditions. Failure to do this on time can result in a loss of LPR status and void her residency here.
