Are you sure its CBP office ...this is not I-94 category...this is immigrant visa and category.

Actually I called Seattle CBP office (that is where port of entry was)....and officer asked me to submit my mothers passport biographic and visa page and than after a while she called me back saying that everything is fine ....you might want to go to another social security office or talk to supervisor...

Well shortly thereafter we went to same social security office and talked to supervisor ...he said he is helpless we cant give ssn in any other name than immigration has...and immigration shows first and middle name as first name ...and we cant help it...you have to correct what immigration has....

than I called immigration and talked to tier 2 officer and he said your mother's name has 3 separate words as per his records ...first,middle and and last name.....I asked than why social security verification shows only two name ...first and middle name together has first name(it has a space in between) and middle name is blank and last name..he said he does not....I asked is not save system which SSN is using is a part of your department ...he said no...than he advised wait till you get green card in mail and than take that green card as a proof to social security and have ss card that way..correctly...

now my question is ...is it possible that cbp and immigration (green card issuing authorities) will have correct name...i.e. 3 different words ..first,middle and last? and save system could have wrong info?

I met my new friend today and she said that the clerk said that it's the requirements in Louisville to get a SSN, fingerprints and photo taken. She said that they told her to just wait for the card without telling her when it will be arrived.

That is absolutely false, AFAIK. I'd have him/her go here: http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm click on noncitizen, print the page, and take it to the local SSA folks and fight it. Seems hokey to me...

Ok, this is the new update I got from her this morning when we had lunch together.

well, after I asked her the details and I found out that she actually had the biometrics for the GC when they took her fingerprint & photo taken and she didn't know that it's for the GC. She will apply the SSN after she received her GC.

the error is in the save db.

save db errors are fixed at CBP.

That's it, that's all. How to fix? Go in person. This 'use a telephone' stuff is a waste of time.

Can I use my signature on SSN card? It shows my initial & maiden name. My SSN shows my married name. Do I have to change my signature into a new signature that showing my married name? Which signature I use for signing the AOS form then?

if I change my signature into a new one then my signature on passport & green card will be different.

Will it be a problem when I travel outside US & coming back?

i'm confuse!!!

There is no need to sign your SSN card. Most likely, you'll never be asked to show it as ID. Not sure what you mean, your SSN shows your married name, but your SSN card shows maiden name.

For AOS you will use your married name, because your married now. Your SSN card, your marriage certificate, your AOS application, and therefore your greencard should all show your married name. Then when you report your marriage and get your new passport, your new passport should be in your married name also, and all docs should match.

  • 2 weeks later...

We applied for her number January 3rd. Went back on Jan 6th and got her number. We still have not received her card yet in the mail though. It has been over two weeks since we got the number. Should this be a concern?

usually they go out within 10 working days. sure, there was a holiday in there on Monday, but....

have you put a name card with all permutations of her name inside the mailbox ? if no, do that, nowish.

of course, you can run back to the SSA office and see what's up with the printing/mailing bits.

I have no idea what you are asking. Put a name card? In mailbox?

We applied for an SSN in person at the SSA office in San Diego. Did it in her maiden name, then got her number the next day in person at the same office. We also changed her name on the second visit. We are still waiting for the SS card in the mail.

you receive mail. in comes in somehow. make a name card, tape to something so the postal carrier can read it . use all permutations of her name, one permutation per line. same for your name, same name card.

postal carriers love to nix mail back when they not recognize the name. at least the lazy ones.
