yup, if you submit original plus photocopy into NVC (as per the requirement)

and

ask for it back at the interview

see DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

and study all pages ..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yes, but that was in October.

In August, there would have been MUCH less.

You're almost at 5 months.

Will you then consider opening a service request?

Have you called an ISO to ask where your petition is?

You think If I call them now that it's hitting the 5 month mark you think I'll get an answer? or should I wait a few more weeks?

not sure for them when is an appropriate time for us to begin calling.

What is a service request?

  • 1 month later...

Still waiting....does anyone know how long it takes after submitting documents in the field office.

For my NOID at the Charleston Field Office it took close to two and a half months after we sent my birth certificate.

Depends on the office and/or adjudicator I think.

It's pretty standard right now. The petitions were sent to NBC who generally sends them to a local office. Some of the local offices are fast (not much work to do I guess) and some are slow (like Atlanta) or morbid. There have been approvals thru the NYC office so they seem to be working on cases, but slowly. I'm not sure an infopass would give you much information, it hasn't seemed to for other people, but you can try if it makes you feel better. Best of luck to you!
