Yeah... NYC... wouldn't expect that one to travel fast.

I'm in Chicago, so we're slow too.

Last I checked chicago had like 3k cases.

Yeah, Houston 5K and rising. :crying:

All advice is given pursuant to the Disclaimer that you may read at the bottom of each forum page.

LATEST STEPS:

I received letter today from the federal plaza office requesting to hand deliver Birth Certificate of me and my spouse. Also Marriage certificate for both of us at the federal plaza NYC field office. I guess its a RFE....that means someone is actually working on my application as i touch 5 months target

Yup, that's an RFE.

That's cool they want you to hand deliver it - the letter you got allows you into the building.

I say don't just hand it over - ask, instead, to speak with the I-130 unit supervisor.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

also DONT give them the original! make copies(if possible certified true cvopies) and take along with original. It's almost impossible to get originals back from USCIS. NVC will send them to embassy where you get them back.

I would also mail copies of the documents before I go to hand deliver just for double measure.

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!

Yes, but that was in October.

In August, there would have been MUCH less.

You're almost at 5 months.

Will you then consider opening a service request?

Have you called an ISO to ask where your petition is?

@ Darnell & ndu26: The letter I received specifically states to ask for officer and hand deliver the documents to the officer. The APPT is early 7:45am and I hope this officer is at work this early. I am planning to take the photocopies and originals with me. I am not sure how to certifies copy of my original. I dont think a notary does this.

certified copies must be ordered from the issuing agent.

whatyou consider to be your originals are most likely certified copies

marriage certs in the us are ordered from the county clerk. certified copies.

birth certs from the county health dept. certified copies.

Yer on the right track - bring the originals and a set of photocopies .

They are not supposed to take the originals, as the originals must be turned in to NVC with the DS-230.

So, let the officer SEE the originals, and give over the photocopies.

Any mess with the officer? Remind the officer that the originals must go in with the DS-230 into NVC during NVC Visa Application processing, never to USCIS intake.
