Copenhagen DCF

I stopped by the Copenhagen embassy Friday to hand in the I-130. Unfortunately the certified Danish translation of our Spanish language marriage certificate wasn't sufficient, but I will stop by again next Friday.

The Copenhagen embassy have really done a great job at simplifying the DCF progress, no doubt to save themselves work. Whats good for them is also good for us. I thought I'd just give a quick update on the requirements here:

They encourage to file the I-130 and the DS230 at the same visit, which I guess saves time. When you file this the only things necessary are:

  • I-130
  • USC Passport and copy of bio page
  • Original and copy of Marriage certificate in Danish or English. If not originally in neither it must be translated to English.
  • DS230 Part I and II as well as OF-169
  • US$190

The petition must be filed personally by the USC on Fridays between 10-11 am. This time had changed so I turned up during the old time-slot.

Note there are no photos necessary at this stage and no G325a necessary.

The waiting time is supposedly 3-5 months, but I have heard that it could be considerably faster.

Concerning the I-864 changes, they are waiting for the new forms and have only just received instructions. I asked about the 5x vs 3x salary/asset figure and she hadn't yet heard about the change to only 3x. She went and found the official instructions. Deciding that we 3x it is. If you are affected by the new rules in anyway you might bring a copy of the press release that was posted here somewhere with you, just in case.
