Good Afternoon.

I am working on my immigration and have a question. We are doing the K1-Visa. Our wedding date is August 30, 2013-so i think my time frame is perfect.

two questions in concerns to this- we are planning a honeymoon to the Virgin Islands. These are owned by the USA-i can still go here right? Also: how long before i can travel back into Canada? Any feedback would be awesome! i do not want to jeopardize my VISA process once I have permission to get married and be in the USA!

Thanks! =)

Welcome to the forum.

Ah yes, an often asked question.

Here is but one link to a VJ thread on the issue:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/349473-feedback-about-travelling-to-the-us-virgin-islands-while-awaiting-aos/

The forum's Google search function can be your friend.

After entering the US on a K-1, you can go to the American VI as long as your travel does NOT involve any international stops. As a consequence, many folks opt for a mainland honeymoon, or a domestic trip to Hawaii.

After entering the US on a K-1, you can travel internationally after you have obtained an Advanced Parole authorization, or a Green Card, see Adjustment of Status (AOS) process in the "Guides" section, accessible at the top of the forum page.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

May I suggest the Grand Canyon, Hot Springs AR, or the Poconos Mountains ?

Sure, it's not Canada, and the poutine gravy sucks, but the views are spectacular and is easy to get a sound-proofed bed for copulation.

If you want to go somewhere warm, why not Key West? You can actually drive there too, if you want.

I just wanted to add it's ok to try to plan your wedding for a specific date, but until you have your visa in hand, don't make any wedding plans ( ie give non-refundable deposits, etc).

I just wanted to add it's ok to try to plan your wedding for a specific date, but until you have your visa in hand, don't make any wedding plans ( ie give non-refundable deposits, etc).

I second this. Too often we hear about some stupid something coming up that screws up a couple's plans. It is always advisable not to make permanent plans until the visa has been issued.

Agree, especially if you have yet to actually file the petition. The government is on its own timeline.

Thank you so much everyone! looks like it should really be a problem!

I know what you all mean on the dates-we have let all our planning places know the situation-and are hoping they will co-operate with us just in case!

I have given myself quite a large span however if things do get delayed!.. we sent our first form away in September-the wedding is August 30th-so almost a year!

Hoping!-my friend just did it, it took her a total of 8 months-start to finish-exact same process.
