This is done on the second half of every month, so, I need to call after January 15th, to see if they are able to get an interview date for the following month, and if that does not work, need to call after February 15th, to see if we can get an interview for March, and so on ;-(

So, AFTER they get an interview date, they will send the packet to Rio ???? And they tell me they can not assure that they will have an interview anytime soon due to the capacity issues in Rio ;-(

I am at this process since March 2012 ;-(

SOMETHING IS EXTREMELY BROKEN HERE ;-(

SOMEBODY TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD HERE PLEASE :-(

Cheers and happy holidays to everyone

The Brazilian Consulate usually only holds interviews for fiancé and spousal visas once a week, on tuesdays.

So every tuesday around 25 people get interviwed at the brazilian consulate in Rio.

If you got noa2, then wait around 21 days or 15 business days and call NVC asking for your case number.

The number will start with the leters RDJ and will have 10 folowing numbers like this: RDJ 2012 XXX XXX.

With this number you can schedule your medical appointment in Brazil.

Brazil do not require the packet 4 to be mailed. After the Consulate get your case, they will send you an email and/or a letter

with the instructions of all the documents you will need to bring to Rio for your interview. I went throught the K-1 process,

but i assume these are the instructions for the paperwork you will need to bring for the spousal visa:

http://portuguese.brazil.usembassy.gov/pt/form-spouse.html (portuguese)

http://brazil.usembassy.gov/interview/forms-for-spouse-visas.html (english)

Don't loose your faith. Your almost there. It will go by really fast... and considering that you have to keep up with the paperwork

for the interview and do your medical exam, you will have your hands full till then O=}

If you need any more help send me a message on my profile page.

Good luck!

Anthony & Paula

It does not work in this way NVC will send your approval to the US Consulate in brazil and usually after 30 to 40 days that the US Consulate receive your file they will schedulle your interview. NVC takes 15 to 20 days to send to Brazil your case after the approval.

thanks !!!

they tell me my Case was approved last Monday at NVC, but they will NOT send the case to the US Embassy until they get an interview date (????), and they told me to call back after January 15th for any updates ;-(

My understanding was that, once the case was completed, NVC would send your case to the Consulate in Brazil, and then, they would setup an interview date ;-(

But that is not what they told me. They tell me NVC can not setup the date, as they depend on the embassy's staff to do that, so that is why it does not make sense that they will send the package only after they get a date. How does the Embassy in Brazil know to setup an interview date ? There has to be some communication from NVC to them here.

Any ideas ? :-)

I will call back tomorrow, and ask for more info.

In any case, I am flying down there for new years, but I am tired of having to be apart for so long ;-(

Thanks again, for listening to my frustrated words here !!!! You guys are great.

Yeah.. NVC sets up the interview but they only the Consulate in Rio only informs you the date after they received and processed your package.

But you can get that date through NVC before the Consulate send you the letter that i told you about.

The NVC part may take a while.. But be sure that it will take 1 month at most!!

So get ready.. get your case number, set up your doctor's appointment and get things going.. cuz your interview is right around the corner.

Yeah.. NVC sets up the interview but they only the Consulate in Rio only informs you the date after they received and processed your package.

Incorrect. When an interview date is set by the NVC for a spousal visa case, the parties are immediately informed of the date by the NVC.

Spousal visa interviews are scheduled by the NVC based on dates the Consulate tells them they have available.

The Fiance(e)visa process and the Spousal visa process are different processes with different procedures and those procedures are not interchangeable.

Oh ok.. I didnt know that.

I knew you could call NVC and inquire about the date, but I didn't know in spousal visa cases, NVC was the one that informed the parties.

Thanks O=}
