My mom is coming as a new resident and will have her passport stamp as her residency until the actual green card arrives. Any experience out there as to if this should be a problem for the cruise lines. I realize that her stamp IS her green card until it arrives, but will the folks at the check in counter at the cruise line realize this? I called and they give me a sheepishly "yes", not a problem. But I would like to have a more confident answer before I spend $$ ....Thanks!! BTW, we are only going to the bahamas and even as a colombian citizen she does not need a visa to go to the bahamas. She only needs permission to re-enter the US.

Right under the picture on her VISA says: "upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year", her visa will become her evidence as a LPR, in the old days, the I-551 was a stamp on the passport and, I never had a problem traveling with it. You will not have a problem with CBP upon returning, seems to me that you have a problem with the cruise line and, in that respect, i cannot help you.
