Online certificates at NVC stage

Hi all, just in the last few months in my country (Chile) it became possible to get basic certificates online. (Marriage, birth, police clearance, etc.)

This is great, since you don't have to go wait in the loooong lines at the Civil Registry.

But, they don't look all that official, even though they are.

I've been browsing about this and it looks like this is becoming a common practice in many countries.

Should I include a letter explaining that they are from an official government agency even though they're not all stamped and fancy, and that they can be found online now? Or will the folks at NVC understand this?

I think its better to join the long lines and get the stamped version.

US Govt only wants the ones signed sealed and delivered from your Govt.

Signed and sealed... hmm. I've talked to some folks here in Chile and they are telling me that the ones the Registro Civil gives you are the same.. just a plain printed paper with a digital stamp... Any Chile folks have input on this? I could ask for special ones of some sort but I'm not sure they're available.

Yes, the ones they give even if you wait in line are just the same printed out versions with a digital stamp and signature, they look so unofficial even though they are the official one..

I used my marriage certificate printed off like that in my I-130 petition so I am sure it is fine at the NVC stage.. but then again I don't really know for sure and it couldn't hurt to ask if they can give you a more official stamped certificate

I used them for the I-130 stage too. Hopefully it's okay - maybe I'll just give it a try with these and then see how it goes. I did find out that at least according to the Chilean govt the certificado de antecedentes expires every 30 days, which also seems kind of crazy but is good to know!
