If only the girlfriend would have had some guns, this would have never happened. But at least this upstanding citizen showed the police, didn't he?

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a domestic dispute in Valrico Friday, only to be met with threats and gunfire, according to a HCSO press release Dec. 14.

According to sheriff’s officials, two deputies responded to a call from 34-year-old, Krystal K. Register of 4110 Silver Lane in Valrico, who said her boyfriend, 45-year-old Allen Harmeyer hit her and threw her out of the house.

When confronted by Harmeyer at the front door, deputies say the man verbally threatened them and went back into the home to retrieve a AK-47 style assault rifle and emptied a 30-round magazine at the officers.

Deputies returned fire, when Harmeyer retreated and soon after surrendered to sheriff’s deputies. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the shootout. However, two sheriff’s vehicles acquired $5,000 worth of damage.

Ms. Register received minor injuries from the assault and was treated and released at the scene.

HCSO deputies seized some 1000 rounds of ammo and several other firearms from the residence.
