I for one am not pro or anti gun, I believe if you want to own one or several, that's your choice. My boss owns 14, but he hunts and is responsible in his handling of all of them. I think the main focal point here is mental illnes and access to firearms. All of the pro-gun people have spouted facts about all these other things that people have died from, if you want your point to gain traction, post lists when people have committed mass murders with those things. I can't remember a time when someone has used a car to mow down 10+ people. That long list people post about medicated killers, about 95% of that is gun related. So you can see why it's being looked at.

Marvin, It's ridiculous the extent some of these gun nuts will go so as not to have their precious guns more strictly regulated. I had some guy jump into a conversation I was having on facebook with a few friends about the gun issue, he started typing in all caps and spouting on about how people die from smoking cigarrettes and how they get killed with eating utensils too. I sarcasticly asked him to show me how many people were killed with spoons last year, I've yet to hear back.

I am trying to debate this argument with logic and reason. Case in point: When 9/11 happened, it was the single biggest act or terror ever committed on US soil, maybe in the world. Did we ban flying? No, they implemented safety features, they changed the way things worked to ensure we could fly again. Now there is no absolute way to prevent killings, but I can't understand why the same logic can't be applied here. You don't have to remove all the guns, but take a look at the whole process and find what can be done to lessen the loss of life.

How about we fire Congress, shred the Constitution and appoint Obama dictator for life and let him enact whatever laws he pleases. He will keep you safe!

You'd think differently if someone held a spoon to your head.

Fortunately the majority of Americans are for the most part rational thinkers. Most pro-gun folks I've talked to agree that some type of regulations, if not outright bans, on assault weapons and the ammunition need to be put in place.
