Ok, so because they will simply JUST FIND ANOTHER WAY...let's make it easy on them. Why make it difficult if they are just going to do it anyway? Am I reading that solution right?

I have a question ( I dare to hope for a logical answer). If you were being attacked, which method would you choose to increase your survival rate? (regardless of the fact whether someone is mentally impaired or not)

a. being chased down by a car

b. being attacked with a knife

c. being attacked with no weapon- man to man

d. being fired upon by an assault rifle loaded to the max.

This was the calculated and planned attack, you think if you would had taken away his gun he would had not found another way?

He kills his mother, destroys his computer, loads that many rounds in magazine.

The point of this is, if you take guns out of the equation, how much planning would he have done? When you look at places that have 0 guns in play, the shooting deaths aren't as high. For those folks that live in Vermont(I know its coming) or any other place that has open carry or anyone can have a gun, those aren't high crime or low income living spaces. If this boy didn't have a house full of guns, do you think he would have built a bomb? Or make a poison to wipe out a lot of people? Same could be said about the anti gun nuts who just think restricting is the only solution.

When infact if you look at all these incident you find that there is problem with attackers mental health, no sane person would do something like this.

Look how the instant reaction of this event was to leap out with gun control, not even waiting to see if this kid had a personality disorder, Aspberger's/Autism, and on drugs.

The dead children are just pawns they shamelessly use for their own agenda, their irrational fear of guns and desire to take them from law-abiding people. They couldn't care less about the kids who were killed. Just objects to attain their ends. Why did he choose elementary school and not a middle school or high school?

The 2 reasons I can think of are either a place with least resistance and other he must have some bad memory about the school.

As some of the reports do mention of him attending this school and was later moved to another school by his parents and later home schooled.

We might know more as the investigation happens and more information is released.

Nope, because I don't need a weapon that badly, I live on base and when I get out of the service I'll move somewhere, get one weapon for my family's safety and retire in style. I don't need 20 guns because if it gets that bad in this world I wouldn't want to live in it anymore if I have to keep taking lives to survive. Maybe by making it this thorough, people will think twice about buying an entire armory and laying waste to a school.

Thanks for telling me -- and others who believe that this was a tragedy, and that gun control needs to be examined in a holistic and ultimately American way -- what I think. I don't care about the kids who were killed. Sure, not a bit. My brother's friends' kids go to Sandy Hook Elementary. They are thankfully safe but they are going to need counselling and a lot of reassurance and love. No, I don't care a whit about them, nor the children who were killed, nor the families, nor the community. It's 25 miles from where I grew up, why should I care? I just want to steal everyone's guns and drug them into submission.

That is a non-reply to what I stated.

How is he being the bully? Did you actually read what he posted? He stated that people who feel that we should be having a discussion about gun control do not care about the children who perished, and that those who take psychopharmaceuticals or believe that they can help and not always hinder are "parrots" with brains like "parakeets."

I do want to know the complete truth. That is not mutually exclusive of believing that we need to have a national discussion about gun control.

Crazy can be stopped but it takes resources and political will! The mentally ill cost money to treat. It costs money to identify them and petition the courts to take away their 2nd amendment rights. The right, in their zeal to give ever larger tax cuts to the rich, have gutted the programs that might have helped. You want all this to happen. Who will pay?

If there are no guns the death toll would be far, far lower!!! An incident in China occurred last week as well. They have their homicidal crazies also. But they have far fewer guns. He used a knife and injured over 20 children. They will all recover from their physical wounds. If you want to say that guns don't kill people then you must also say people don't kill people either. It takes a combination of a crazy person and a weapon. If you cannot eliminate the crazy person then maybe you can eliminate their weapons!

The recent tragedy in Colorado has focused attention on mass murderers, and many are asking “Why?” Theories abound, many of them unfounded and ignorant of the actual facts behind spree killings.

According to some statistics:

■78% off those responsible for crimes of mass violence had a history of suicidal thoughts and actual suicide attempts.

■34% of mass murderers had a “mental health evaluation” before the attack

■17% were diagnosed with a mental or behavior disorder.

The statistics regarding the connection between dangerous psychiatric drugs and random violence is in actual fact much higher.

Dr. Moira Dolan, an internal medical doctor with the Medical Accountability Network, has this to say about the connection between mass murderers and psychiatry:

“There are numerous examples of people who have gone off on a shooting rampage and killed their classmates, their co-workers, members of their family and often took their own lives, then it was shortly discovered that they were taking an antidepressant. The apparency is that the person was mentally ill and went on a rage but when these cases have actually been looked at closer, what we find is that the person did not have any violent tendencies and in most cases was not even suicidal before they started treatment with their antidepressant medication.”

Dr. Dolan makes the point that random violence and mass killings are the acts of monsters. The fact that children have access to guns and violent movies do not create monsters. But drugs that alter brain chemistry can have this effect on susceptible individuals.

Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, PhD and author of a book called “Prozac, Panacea or Pandora?” discovered in her research that in 24 out of 32 cases of murder suicides involving women and their children, the mothers were taking Prozac.

Here are some known facts about antidepressants:

■They are associated with violent behavior, which includes tendencies towards homicide and suicide

■Of the top 10 drugs which are linked to violence, 50% are antidepressants

■Some people are especially vulnerable to homicidal behavior when taking these drugs, as they are unable to metabolize these drugs

■Research has been done proving that placebos are just as effective in treating mental illness as psychiatric drugs.

■They can cause agitation

■They have been responsible for improper Bone development

■They can cause gastrointestinal bleeding

These drugs are so dangerous, why are they still marketed so vigorously? And why, with all the dangerous side effects, both mental and physical, are they promoted to our youth?

The answer lies in the enormous profits made by the huge pharmaceutical companies who gain by marketing these dangerous drugs. At the expense of our children’s health and the safety of the public, these drugs are continually promoted as safe and necessary.

Instead of making the obvious connection between the use of antidepressants and violent behavior, their spokespeople twist the truth and claim that the mental illness caused the violence, not the drug.

And the pharmaceutical company representatives, along with the psychiatrists who push these deadly drugs promote their lies with a straight face.

The public has been an unwitting victim of pharmaceutical greed for too long, and is finally awakening to the enormous and damaging results these drugs have caused.

Exactly! It's really not that hard to understand. A mentally ill person w/o access to firearms can't go out killing dozens with firearms. Why? Well, because (s)he doesn't have any firearms. I don't know how that could be so hard to grasp that many on this board just don't get it. I think you could easily explain this concept to an average three year old. Seeing that especially the gun nuts have a problem connecting these dots, I am even more concerned about the guns out there on the street. they sure seem to be concentrated in the hands of the not so bright.
