Detroit Airport to St. Louis Airport

I wonder if anybody could give their opinion about point of entry for international visitor visa.

My aunt coming from Philippines and will have change of plane in Detroit Airport to St. Louis Airport. Where is her point of entry? My dilemma is, she have connecting flight from Detroit to St. Louis Airport in same concourse and I assume she will not pass immigration as she is just changing plane. Where is she going to have her passport stamp, Detroit or St. Louis?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. Another question, she doesn't have to re-check her luggage if she's using same airlines and didn't book the ticket separately?

Didn't have connecting flight before that's why I am confuse.

Detroit will be her POE.

She'll have to be inspected and stamped and what nots,

and

she'll have to shift her luggage into the domestic part of the terminal.

whilst it's the same airlines - it won't be the same terminal bay. it might be the same terminal, but i doubt it.

So, look at the tickets she has, study the terminal bay designation on Inbound to Detroit and Outbound from Detroit.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Theres some airlines that will ask the passenger if they want theyre luggage in their last destination/. ive been asked like this several times.. but if your aunt wants to be sure ask the receptionist in her exit gate first ...

Your Aunt should check her bags to her final destination which will be St Louis.

Your Aunt will arrive in Detroit where she will deplane and everyone on the plane will be directed to Immigration(This will be her POE). She will need to get in the line for non USA citizens. There she will go through "immigration" where they will look at her passport, visa, ask questions, etc. Once she finishes imigration she will be at the baggage claim area where she will need to get all her bags and go through Customs.

At Customs you may just give the filled out customs card to the agent, or they have the right to pull her aside and have her open any or all of her luggage to make sure she is not bringing in to USA anything that is prohibitive. (see other posts on what she should not bring).

After going through customs with all her luggage she will then be directed to the "connection" or "to leave Airport". She will need to go to the "connections" side where she will then be able to drop her checked luggage to some airport personnel so then the luggage will arrive in St Louis and can be claimed at baggage claim. The personnel should look at the luggage tag that is still on the checked bags to make sure it shows St Louis as the final destination.

Right after this area there should be some monitors that will show all the domestic flights and she will be able to look to see what terminal/Gate the plane to St Louis will be at. If She is flying with Delta to St Louis then she will probably stay at the international or McNamara terminal. If she is flying with any other airlines then she may need to get on the "Shuttle Service" to go the the "North Terminal". The Shuttle leaves every 7 minutes and there should be signs directing her to the Shuttle service. There should be airport personnel, or ask (or show her ticket) to someone, and they should be able to assist her to get to the correct gate.
