Hi, My mom was approved at her interview in Bogota. She received her passport with her immigrant visa stamp and the envelope. What happens when she arrives? I will be with her, but will she be a resident after she arrives, will they put a stamp in her passport? Do I have to adjust status or fill out any more forms? Can we travel to the Bahamas, ie can she travel out of the us for a few days with her stamp before her green card arrives? Just wondering, thanks!

She would be a LPR as soon as she is processed at POE. You do not have to adjust (I-485), Once she is out of the airport, the same visa that she has will act as a I-551 stamp, good for one year, that means that the same visa she has on her passport will be her "temporary" green card until, the actual green card is mailed to her. She can travel the world if she wants to, the minute she is out of the airport, she will be a resident. they may or may not stamp the passport with an entry stamp.
