Selective Service for New LPR

Greetings fellow VJs,

I have a question regarding Selective Service: So I just received my GC after AOS through marriage from F1 student, and I am turning 25 next year. I just read that Men, 18 to 25, with permanent resident status, must register for Selective Service; however, the I-485 form says that my info will be automatically transferred from USCIS to Selective Service. So, do I need to register for SS again, since this is important for Naturalization application later on?

Hopefully this topic is in the right forum and someone will answer my question.

Go ahead and look check online and see if you are registered already. If you can't find yourself go ahead register at that time. USCIS is not always on top of that, my oldest was automatically registered but when my next oldest turned 18 he was not. We sent it in ourselves.

Go ahead and register. Cannot hurt to be sure. No one is going to call you up for service so why not?
