Its been over 30 days since USCIS approved my petition and NVC still hasn't received it. I'm starting to panic, should I? I emailed NVC and received this back

"Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your

inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.

Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition

from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact

USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition.  "

Is this normal? Has this happened to any of you before?

Normal; no! But, the same thing happened to a whole lot of us early last year when the service centers transferred about 38,000 IR1 cases to Texas Service Center for processing. I suspect the hold up is at USCIS like it was for us. Hang in there, It might take a while longer, but it will eventually get done.

While it did not happen to me personally, others who filed around the same time I did and were approved a few weeks before me had their files held up at USCIS prior to transfer to the NVC. Once those files were eventually sent, it created a backlog at the NVC for assigning case numbers.

How much of a wait are we talking about?

I am leaving to visit husband soon and I'd like my case to be at NVC by then. Also who should I keep bothering about this? Uscis or NVC?

call into USCIS, get an ISO, ask the ISO where the casefile is, physically.

possible options:

1. still with the adjudicator

2. in the mailroom, waiting to go out

3. sent out already.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
