Liberals?

Yes I do know that the UK has a higher rate of violent crime than the US does. What does that have to do with over 9,000 deaths a year by gun in the US? How many of the victims in the UK are still alive today because the assailant(s) didn't have access to guns? I'd be willing to bet the number is very high. Do violent crime statistics wipe out over 9,000 deaths anually?

How many of the criminals that committed those crimes are alive because the person they assaulted did not own a gun ?

Probably the same amount of criminals still alive in the US. How many assailants are killed in the US each year by their victim with a gun?

Sure. But that's really just another red herring. A good place to start would be to tightly close the existing acquisition loopholes, ban high powered weapons and large capacity magazines. Register all guns. Get rid of armor busting and other high capacity ammunition as well. There's no place for that on our streets.

You know sometimes the availability of those rounds have saved lives, I think it was LA where gunman has stormed the bank, had bunch of hostage and the cops could not bring them down with all the firepower they carried.

Some cops went to the nearest gun shop borrowed few high powered weapons and rounds to slow down the gunman.

Imagine you have similar scenario and even the cops would not have access as no gun shop would have them stocked as it is all restricted.

You need to learn a new line of argument. This one is really getting old. You sound like that nerdy chick in American Pie.

"This one time, in band camp..."

More to the point, though. Because on a single occasion that you seem to recall - I've never heard of that, by the way - where the police obtained certain ammo from a gun shop on the corner, we need to make sure that armor busing ammo is broadly available across the country? You cannot be serious. That is one of the lamest lines I've heard in a long time.

It was in an episode of TJ Hooker. If Capt. Kirk needs ammo, he gets it!

Big dog - you know when you cannot argue reasonable you start whinning and crying tin foil.

Maybe you should not open your mouth when you are not aware of the real life situations.

He's talking about those two guys that went into that Bank of America in North Hollywood back in 1997 and robbed it. The cops did in fact go to a nearby gun shop to get assault type weapons because all they had were their 9 mm handguns.

It was in an episode of TJ Hooker. If Capt. Kirk needs ammo, he gets it!

It's a true story.

IYou should it least hit Google before you try and embarrass people and up embarrassing yourself. you can beam yourself up now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

Local patrol officers at the time were typically armed with their personal 9 mm or .38 Special pistols, with some having a 12-gauge shotgun available in their cars. Phillips and Mătăsăreanu carried illegally modified fully automatic AKMs and an AR-15 rifle with high capacity drum magazines and ammunition capable of penetrating police body armor. They also wore body armor of their own. Since the police handguns could not penetrate the bank robbers' body armor, the patrol officers' bullets were ineffective. SWAT eventually arrived with rifles powerful enough to penetrate the body armor. Several officers also appropriated AR-15 rifles from a nearby firearms dealer. The incident sparked debate on the need for patrol officers to upgrade their capabilities in similar situations in the future.[4]

The gun fanatics will grasp at anything to justify their fixation. They view what happened in CT as an acceptable risk for their right to play with their toys. Nothing will change unfortunately and more of the same tragedies will be in the news sometime down the road.

Some other nut will try to outdo the last nut.

Yes it is, but in the grand scheme of things, it's meaningless.

Maybe so, but it doesn't have anything to do with T.J. Hooker or Star Trek. You might want to get your facts straight before you start throwing around insults.
