Dear VJ friends,

travel.state.gov/visa/visaphotoreq says the photo should be taken within the last 6 months to reflect the current appearance.

But the Instructions for I-130 state: photo taken within 30days of the date of this petition.

My questions are

1) How many days in advance should I take the photo? 6 months or 30 days?

2) How many photos needed for the whole CR1 process? So that I can have them ready at one time.

We did photos just prior to mailing. We did not do CR1, a few extra will not hurt.

Thanks to bigdog....If did photos prior to mailing,my husband should already come back USA. then I have to post the photo to him. That is really not convienent! if taken within 6months, then I can give it to him before he leaves china.

Did you submit the barcode of the photo? I am thinking if barcode is not needed, then 30 days or 6months photos will be ok.

No bar code, I think we emailed the PDF took it to the photo place and printed it out. My wife on arriving in USA had extra photos.
