Hi! I have a son in a Philippines that I would like to bring in U.S. I am a U.S. citizen, but I am not married to the mother of the child. I am listed as father in his birth certificate. Can anyone tell me how the procedures work and requirements and such...please. Thanks

You didn't include the fact that your son was born before you were a US citizen.

You already have a thread about I-130 petition for your son. All your questions have already been answered there. http://www.visajourn...86#entry5830886

Great! thanks for merging my new post. How do I send the form I-130? just put it inside the usps envelope together with the pictures? and what's the cover letter about? do I need it for petitioning my son? what are the requirements though to prove cause my son is born out of wedlock.

If you are a U.S. citizen and the father or stepparent of the child or son or daughter, you must file the following with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services:

ball.gifForm I-130, Petition for Alien Relative

ball.gifA copy of your birth certificate or U.S. passport

ball.gifIf you were not born in the U.S., a copy of either:

ball.gifyour Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship or

ball.gifyour U.S. passport

ball.gifA copy of the child's birth certificate showing the child's name and the names of both parents

ball.gifA copy of civil marriage certificate showing the names of both parents, or proof that a parent/child relationship exists or existed (if you are petitioning for a stepchild, your marriage to the child's parent must take place before the stepchild's 18th birthday)

ball.gifA copy of any divorce decrees, death certificates, or annulment decrees that establish the termination of any previous marriages entered into by you or your spouse

ball.gifFathers petitioning for a child born out of wedlock must provide evidence that a parent/child relationship exists or existed. For example, the child's birth certificate displaying the father's name, evidence showing that the father and child at some point lived together, or that the father held out the child as his own, or that he has made financial contributions in support of the child, or that in general his behavior evidenced genuine concern for and interest in the child. A blood test proving paternity may also be necessary.

If anyone's name has been legally changed (if it differs from the name on his or her birth certificate), evidence of the name change must be submitted.

Perfect! but how do I send the forms? just put it inside the envelope where I get from the USPS cause I've seen envelope over there at USPS. Do I need a cover letter or anything...

Second, if I want to send it via Express Mail from USPS, should I mail it to PO Box 21700 or the one 1820 Skyharbor. I'm from California. It gets my confused cause the PO Box is for USPS but I am going to send the form via USPS but express mail one. So, where should it goes to?

Don't forget to include the check $420.

It is clearly stated in the instructions that for Express Mail & commercial courier deliveries you mail it to

Yeah, it says express mail but at the same time it is from USPS so I was thinking where to send it...thanks for clarifying

Should I use short bondpaper? and is it really necessary to have a cover letter to file form I-130 for a son?

and one more thing, the envelope from USPS is the one to use to send it? (please I don't know what envelope to send it from)
