AOS Documents

We are still early in the process but want to make sure we are gathering all the required documents to bring to USA before my fiance leave Chile. I've read the AOS documents and unless I am mistaken the only documents my fiance will need to bring from Chile are the following:

birth certificate

divorce certificate

vaccination sheet

We are going to be bringing all of our K-1 visa documents back to USA just in case but is there anything else that we will need? I just don't want to find out when we are in USA that my fiance should've gotten another piece of paper and we cannot adjust.

the mysterious Sealed envelop which they send you with your visa to your house !!!!! and do not open it i did it and i was screwed just don't forget to have that with you as well you will need it at POE good luck

Isn't this person MOVING to the USA? Bring everything that might be needed for any reason. Examples: Education documents--nice to have on hand when registering for college classes. Baptism certificate--depending on his religious affiliation, this might be handy in his new church. All medical records including past radiology exams--if he had past surgery or health issue, his US health care provider will need to refer to that information.

All photos (and take pictures in natural light of any family photos/albums to have digital copies. I did this in my husband's house to share with his sisters that live in different countries, too, and they have been delighted to have them available It took me maybe an hour of time when I was there.)

Sentimental items.

If you were moving to Florida, what would you take with you and what would you not ever need to bother with?

As far as AOS goes, it might be worth a shot to look at the interview reviews to see what examples of evidence have been looked at or requested from other experienced folks. I am a little nervous about "proving" that we are a legit married couple so I am now curious about the other responses, too. Good luck!

Thank you guys! I didn't even think about the medical documents. We have everything else and we were going to bring the medical from our visa application but since he just had a full exam at his doctors (for work) I will have him get a record of that so we can bring it. We have all his other educational certificates and military certificate ready to go. I was just nervous about forgetting something in particular. Does anyone know if I will need to bring a copy of his police record or bc he was granted a visa its not needed for AOS?

I could be wrong, but I don't think the police record of another country is ever gonna be useful here. If he has a copy, sure, why not? But if it takes any effort, I wouldn't bother with that, personally.

The only reason why we are bringing it is bc we are bringing everything from his interview with us and that is one of his documents. I assume the only real info I need is his birth certificate, divorce certificate and educational certificates. But we are bringing all visa related documents and then whatever else he wants to bring since he is moving. I just don't want to leave an important document in Chile and we are in USA. lol

are you using the documents that you can get on the registro civil online? we used our online code to get the certificado de antecedentes, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. they are official, but since they're not sealed or with an ink stamp or anything i'm a bit concerned.

any input from fellow chilenos is definitely welcome! un abrazo

It all depends on the state my state does not accept any of my fiance's documents from Chile. I am going to send you a personal message telling you what the embassy told me.

crazy states!! thanks for the info and good luck with all the tramites!! i'm starting to think chilean bureaucracy is nothing compared to US bureaucracy! animo
