May have been. I know this case was different from what i said, but there are alot of schools that have very crappy security. Like i said in a previous post. I could walk into my sons elementary school and hang out for who knows how long before someone would notice me there. The states need to step up the mandates on these schools systems and force them to provide better security. Which could include bars on the windows if they have to. There has got to be a better way to secure these school properties.

No bars on windows. You're only objective seems to be to stop shooters. Don't forget that fires are very likely.

No it's not. Our local elementary schools have done just fine w/o an armed sheriff's deputy in front of the building for decades. If the gun nuttery now requires that a sheriff's deputy is placed in front of every school, then I would say it's time that the gun nuts pick up that tab. Immediately raise a tax of $10.00 a bullet and $5,000.00 a firearm to pay for this extra security now needed for no other reason than the ridiculous proliferation of firearms in this country.

great idea! just how do you propose to implement it?

Implementation is simple. If a box of a 100 rounds cost 100.00 today, then that box costs costs 1,100.00 tomorrow with $1,000.00 going to the state and local government into a school security force fund. If a firearm goes for $500.00 today, it goes for $5,500.00 tomorrow with $5,000.00 going towards school security. No more sales outside the official channels - anyone in violation does hard time and irrevocably loses their 2nd amendment rights. It's really simple. After a short transition period, guns and ammo will be at a premium. You get to retain your second amendment rights as long as you don't violate the law and there would certainly be less guns and ammo on the streets over time.

We charge taxes for cigarettes and alcohol for the damage they do and the cost they burden the public with. Why not for guns and ammo?

Ya tell that to the people up here, especially all the ones who rely on subsistence hunting in order feed them and their family. It isn't happening in this country. Maybe in liberal fairy land up north or across the pond but not here in the USA.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

You say that like I should give a **. I don't.

Half of Alaska's population relies on subsistence hunting. You going to starve those people to death Chairman Mao after you take their guns?

Oh god don't get me started on that one. They already get every thing for free, and when they ride their snow mobiles here from the villages they load up on chips, cola, candy, and other bs with their EBT cards. I'm talking an entire snow mobile trailer loaded to the gills. They always wear fur hats so they can whack anything that moves on the way here and way back home. Helmets screw up your sight so those fur hats are a must. They make mittens with trigger fingers and they all have them. Rifle stays in a saddle sheath on the side of the snow machine. If they whack a moose on the way back they bury it in the snow, unload their FREE GROCERIES at their FREE HOUSE in the village, and come back for the moose.

I thought Alaskans were self sufficient.

You don't get to make your own liquor, what makes you think you get to make your own bullets. Wanna shoot? Pony up the cost of your hobby to society.

you might wish to do some googling before you continue down that path.

I thought Alaskans were self sufficient.

Eskimo's and any/all Alaskan natives used to be the most self sufficient people in this country...that was until the US government turned them into a welfare people. Free medical, free housing, EBT cards, free commercial fishing permits, etc.... the Feds turned a proud people into welfare relying scrubs. The older Eskimo's are sickened by what they see and they aren't afraid to voice their opinion. Unfortunately the older ones (Elders) are dying off and their opinion doesn't mean as much as it once used to.

Who gives a fck about Alaska? I swear, if a thread isn't turned into something about Alaska, it's about Vermont. There are other states in the country. I promise.
