All these people advocating that teachers be armed, have never been a teacher. I would never advocate guns in schools. What if a student gets hold of these guns? I don't see any good coming out of having teachers with guns in schools. How about emergency locks on doors and bullet proof doors/windows? Guns and children don't mix, ever.

That’s a good suggestion… to have something like panic room.

I think most ppl were just giving a suggestion if the teacher is comfortable than they can if they want to and yes it can be conceal student would not even know if it is in conceal carry.

Obviously when ppl said teachers can carry it also meant they can go thru some training with help from local law enforcement agency.

No mention of an armed security guard? We have them in banks, and court houses just to name a few.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I'm not really advocating it, though I might advocate non lethal options.

I don't like the idea of an armed security guard either. Banks and court houses aren't full of children and not all banks have armed guards. I've never been seen an armed guard in a bank, unless they're in an armoured vehicle.

Who's paying for all those new security features? We can't even pay for books in many districts and you're suggesting several million dollars of physical security features on each building. I like the premise of harder schools but the funding just simply isn't there. My building had exposed wires and asbestos coming through the ceiling. That's the reality of funding for building maintenance.

As for guns and children not mixing, I shoot with kids all the time. They do just fine.

Iv'e seen them in the larger banks but that's beside the point. You are telling me that you do not want a trained armed security guard at a school when there's a chance a whacked out shooter might target that school and it's children and staff?

Who's gonna pay for the armed guard? Who's gonna pay for the teachers' gun training etc. etc. I'm advocating security features as an alternative to weapons in schools. You're right the funding isn't there, and it's a shame. We don't invest enough in our schools.

You can get an armed security guard for $40,000 a year. That's peanuts compared to what this country blows on complete utter bs.

Teachers could be armed without spending a penny. Simply lift the laws banning them from carrying weapons. The problem will sort itself out overnight.

We don't have to pay to arm teachers, we simply have to allow them to exercise their God-given rights to defend themselves and those around them.

mmm. okay king jpeg. you are against funding schools, because you don't have any kids..so why would you propose more of your money going to pay the salaries for thousands upon thousands of school security guards?

Without spending a penny? Don't we want training? There would have to be a training program in place. Who is paying for these guns? If you think you're going to arm staff at a school without spending a penny, you're wrong.
