Yes, people should read the entire document which is the main reason I put the link in my post. Technically 'required' or not, I would never advise anyone to skip the tax return/transcript even if they are not self-employed. It is a simple and free thing to provide, and from what I have read of people's experiences all over the globe for the last few years, it appears the majority of consulates want to see the tax documents along with the I-134. Some have even wanted to see nothing else but the last return, even if the person had current income and proof of it.

We all know some things are country specific when it comes to the K-1 interview process. It is ALWAYS better to have something and not need it, then to not have something and need it. I will continue to advise people to include their most recent tax return/transcript with their I-134. I feel it would be a disservice to them not to.

Here is a recent review from Sydney (from today): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/405196-sydney-interview-approved/page__view__findpost__p__5878637

They ONLY submitted the letter from employer. No bank statements or tax returns and were approved without issue.

Thought some people might find that interesting. They had the returns and bank letter just in case but were never asked for them. Just goes to show it's very much country specific (and probably also case specific).

Yes, some consulates are more lax about what they want to see for financials. I still really wish it was streamlined and there were set rules across all consulates. It would make it so much easier to know exactly what was needed for anyone, applying anywhere, to get their K-1 approved.

It so would! Instead we have some consulates not accepting co-sponsors for a K1, some who accept but only if you do an I-864 instead of an I-134, some who use 100% and others who use 125%, some requiring documents not normally required (like cemars for CR-1 in Philippines which isn't mentioned anywhere on their paperwork), how this country doesn't require permission from a parent for kids, but that country does, and some countries require you attend a seminar before leaving (or you can't leave). Total p.i.t.a!

**Edit - the main reason it's a pain is because people then freak out when they see that this person had to do this or that and worry that they're the same (another example being evolution of relationship letters being necessary for some countries, age gap not mattering for some but being a red flag in others)
