Tonight I went to a neighborhood prayer vigil. It was set up on a random corner in a store parking lot for anyone to come at 5 o'clock and stand in the rain under your umbrella with a candle. I found it comforting even among complete strangers. The video shows that the world is also moruning with us. It's hard to be cheery and go Christmas shopping when I feel so sad but I think it's good to do something light after a tragedy. You know some of those parents that lost their children had probably already bought them Christmas gifts. My heart goes out to them really. Surprisingly my spirits were uplifted by some kids doing a fundraiser where they gift wrap your presents for donations to their middle school band and color guard. They didn't seem too affected by the tragedy yesterday and I thought maybe their parents protected them and spared their innocences. It was nice to see their happiness and security seemed retained.
