I know what I would tell your family if I was in his shoes

To come visit Asia? I wish they would. I am certain that Europe is BEAUTIFUL (and we do hope to visit eventually, just for fun) but I hope someday they can visit his country too. Cambodia may be "third world" but it is quite beautiful. I think they are just struggling with the fact that we got engaged before they met him and that his traditions have ruled our decisions thus far (we got engaged too soon in American tradition but at just the right time by his traditions). Huh, I don't know. Families are complicated. :)

Here is a listing of where a citizen of Cambidia can travel to and the visa requirements. St. Kitts and then on to St. Lucia or just St. Lucia would work. I know my Mother was not very happy that I could not find a good American woman. Then she accused me of not even trying. I would lay it on the line to them that the wonderful US governement makes traveling to the US so difficult that they have two options 1) go to his country or 2) meet in another location. I have a friend who just loved Thailand and would love to go back. I would try the tourist visa again with the I-134 or even the I-864 which is a legally binding document and if refused tell the parents his chances of coming to the US for a visit will not happen.

Good luck,

Dave

Judging by that map the US is not quite alone.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thanks so much! I am so grateful! That is an excellent list, the most complete I have seen. I am also glad I am not the only one whose family is a bit confused by their choice in a spouse. I think they are more nervous about agreeing to sponsor someone they have never met, and understandably so. It is just difficult because if they don't sponsor him and they cannot come visit him in Cambodia or somewhere else, what can we do? :) Anyway, thanks so, so much for your help, everyone! We are so grateful! Sorry to post this multiple times. I am a bit new to VJ and still learning the ropes. I am also a bit desperate for information, mostly because I miss my loved one so much. I am sure you all know what that feels like, unfortunately. Happy Holidays, again! :)
