Filed for AOS/EAD/AP with a NOA date of 10/12/2012. For almost 2 months we were unable to access any information on our case via the USCIS website. Did not recognize any of our receipt numbers. Upon calling USCIS help line we were told several times that there was a glitch in the system and we were elevated to a supervisor, who's only advice is we would just have to wait. All of a sudden (Dec. 12th, 60 days from NOA) we can access our case on line. The receipt numbers have been accepted and status is "initial review". Not sure if this is good news or bad news. Good to see something, but frustrating in day 64 to be in "initial review". We are hopeful about traveling back to Toronto to see family over the holidays, however a bit discouraged. Has anyone else been part of this "computer glitche"? Is it common to see stus change directly from "initial review" to "card/document production". 64 days looks like the current average for AP/EAD. Should we be encouraged/discouraged.

Yes....we are impatient!

Many many many people had their receipt number become visible after not being able to see them for 30-60 days in this past week. It doesn't really have any impact on your case being approved any more quickly or sooner than it would be if you couldn't see it.

The processing time for EAD/AP is 90 days. Expecting it any earlier only leads to disappointment.

We filled Oct. 30th 2012, and for some reason out NOA's were returned to the USCIS being undeliverable. Funny thing is, is that we haven't moved so a changed of address didn't happen. That's been about the only weird thing that has happened on our end. The Biometrics appointment is Thursday Dec. 20th. Hoping we'll get our EAD within a couple of weeks. We didn't file for the AP due to the lack of avilable PTO on my end, just was extra paperwork.

Good luck.

Thanks to all. We got a bit optimistic given the timelines for AP/EAD on this site and were hopeful that Mary could get back home to see her children and grandchildren over the holidays. That said, everything slows down around the this time of year.

The past few days (Newtown, CT) helps to put much into perspective. While it would be wonderful to see family, good things will come with time and patience. We are thankful for what we have. So we will stop pushing the update button on USCIS website 10 times a day (maybe 3 times now)...knowing that the more you stress about these things....the worse you make it. :)

Well a watched pot never boils. Got a text 10 minutes ago. EAD/AP approved. 65 days from NOA. Visa Journey's estimate (based on current trend) was 66 days. Spooky!

I filed just a couple of days before you. I could never check my case status until Dec 13th. It said it was on initial review. I checked again today and it says that my AED was approved on dec 15th. So hopefully you should have a similar message anytime soon. This process is all about patience :). Good luck

When the combo card arrives, is the date on the card the approval date or the "production date"? Against the reccommendation of many we are considering having Mary go to Toronto this Thursday (although approved we know the card will not arrive until after Christmas) I would then physically bring the card to Toronto and we would travel back together. We understand the risks, but knowing the date on the card would be helpful in us making our decision.

*** Thread moved from Working & Traveling to USCIS Service Centers forum -- topic chiefly involves USCIS's website function. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I believe the date on the card is the production date. Our approval date was 12/11 & it went into production on 12/14, which is the date printed on the card. We were in a similar situation. We had tickets to fly to Denmark on 12/14 & went to great lengths to get a card printed/expedited once we learned my husband was approved. Didn't happen. We called USCIS on the 13th & the tier 2 officer told us that technically my husband was allowed to leave the country but obviously wouldn't be allowed to re-enter without the card.

After learning that it was going to cost thousands of dollars to change our airline tickets, we made a spur of the moment & gut decision to fly to Denmark anyways & without the card in hand. The card arrived yesterday & my mother has already sent it to us in Denmark via FedEx Priority. It should get here next week & we don't return to the US until Jan 3. It's definitely a gamble to ship something that important overseas but I'm pretty optimistic that all will be okay. A lot of people advise not to leave without it in hand and I understand why (I've laid awake several nights now worrying about this situation). If your case is showing online, you can sign up for case status updates & USCIS will notify you when the card is in production & when it has been picked up by USPS. Maybe that might help you. It took 9 days for us from approval to get the card in hand, just to give you an idea.
