Update we received my husbands biometric appt letter yesterday. Its on 1/14 not sure what to expect that day but he will be there. Never thought it would be so close. Yay

Just so you know, you can do an early walk-in biometrics once you have the appointment notice, just get there early. That gets the process moving earlier. I did mine like 2weeks before the actual date.

Can anyone do an early walk in once you have the app letter in hand? And does it really speed up the process of getting ead/ap, or is it just what you suppose? Thanks!

I'm not sure about whether it would speed up the process if you do an early walk-in, but I have read that some offices do not allow this. So, if like us you have to quit your work, drive for 1 and half hour to get to the office and then drive back again, be sure to check (call?) whether that particular office accepts walk-ins.

Generally, yes.

However, if is a bit of drive you should do your research before making the trip. I decided to just wait it out because I didn't have a valid reason and don't want to have to explain anything to anyone or risk being turned back. Mine is on 01/15...waited about 3 weeks since I received my appointment letter.

Yeah, I'm not that close so I think I'd better wait. Thanks so much for the info! I have 3 more weeks of waiting too!

Do you know the phone number to call them to know where my package is? Because I'm still waiting for everything and I'm seeing more people who send it after me and they have the notification. And my i-94 is gonna expire in 5 days.

I was told by an agent that it does speed up the process simply because your biometrics get sent to the FBI for your background check and once they send back a clear/positive response to USCIS your case is moved forward for continued processing.. But he did say it'll depend on the location if they're busy at the very moment you go they might turn you away, so what i did was go almost at the end of the working day and i was in and out in less than 10 mins.
