So I had my interview today at 26 Federal Plaza at 9:45am, got to the window to check in on the 8th floor at 9:23am was caught up in the long security line on the 1st floor. Waited for approximately an hour. There wasn't as much ppl waiting than what I expected....however our IO was sooooooo nice....he joked around with my husband (US citizen) and even made jokes with me....he was familiar with the Caribbean since his family is from there so he made alot of jokes and references about the islands. Overall we took like 40 mins, he stated that i overstayed my time (between expired student visa and when i got my opt card) however he said that wasn't an issue, he just had to get his supervisor to sign it off and we'll be good to go! had us sit and wait in the lobby then 10 mins later he called us back in and stamped my form as approved. He sent the paperwork to begin card production immediately and he said i'll have my card within 15 business days and I have to resend another application next 21months for the permanent card.

Now I'm gonna cook my hubby a nice dinner and enjoy the night :)

Congratulation of getting the GC.!!!!

In a few months, we'll get ours. Then it's our turns to thumb nose the newly delivered GC... devil.gif

The question is when is that going to happen :P In the meantime, we're sailing smoothly into our 6th month of waiting ClockWatch2.gif

This month of June in no time will pass us by, then some of us will be dialing that USCIS numbers for status. tongue.png

And we're still all here, in the middle of June. On average, we passed our 6th month of waiting! Woohoo! So, let the 7th month start!

Judging by other VJ topics it seems that NBC is still processing August '12 cases. We're in for some serious wait!

Just for the sake of that "some serious of waiting", we prepared for our I-765 renewal form already and the date we will be mailing it. tongue_ss.gif

Without having my hopes too high I decided to call the USCIS misinformation line today, since I just passed my 6 month mark. I learned that somehow my case was transferred to the Chicago Field Office, which sounds like a familiar, albeit highly improbable scenario here among the VJers, since we are pretty much convinced that our files are sitting at the NBC collecting dust. I was unable to put in a service request as my case is still within "the normal processing times" and "I should wait 35 days for some action". I did not bother to ask to speak with a Tier 2. Maybe if I feel like wasting some more time next week, I'll follow up.

In the meantime, waiting patiently...ClockWatch2.gif

We will reach the 6 months mark at the end of this month and although we all know what their answer would be, I will try to call USCIS and ask the status.

We know a couple (actually really close friends) who got married in US (husband was here on F1 visa and the wife was a citizen). The husband applied for his AOS about a month after my wife and received his green card about a month ago (~4 months processing time)!!!!!! Although we are REALLY and SUPER HAPPY for them because they are absolutely wonderful people, it is sad to see such a difference between K1 AOS filers and others :( I am happy that at least we have the EAD & AP card...

Our story: K1 -> AOS -> ROC -> Naturalization (2012 - current)

(checkout our timeline for details)
