  1. 1. What should the national response be to this tragedy?

    • There shouldn't be a national response at all.

At my high school (not too long ago) not a soul was allowed to step pass the admin office. If you want something or someone you stay put and if necessary an announcement is made that Jane Does needs to come down to where ever. Never had anything except hand to hand combats beteeen students which were few and far between.

Strict rules for school but what about at a bakery, mall on the streets etc?

Right. What I'm saying is if communities want safe schools they're going to need to pay for it.

Because the 2nd Amendment isn't going anywhere.

They can do adjustments to it if the situation calls for it, just wonder how many more lives are going to be lost because some coward got their hands on a lot of firepower and lays waste to a bunch of children,

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

You can't protect everyone everywhere.

The cowards are the taxpayers who refuse to pony up the money to make their schools safe.

Yeah, but people who have intents like this disgusting child killer isn't killing only one person, they are killing multiple individuals. I can't imagine I'm out somewhere and someone walks up to me and shoots me in the back of the head and riddles 5 other people's body with bullets.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Yeah, and?

The Second Amendment isn't going away. Get used to that idea.

I really wish my fellow libs would focus their energies not on gun control (which ISNT GOING TO HAPPEN) but on securing public spaces.

You are obsessed with Chicago. So much so that you're letting it blind you.

So your answer is more guns? The teachers should have been armed?

Never said I wanted people to have their guns taken away but why does one man need 4 guns? That's what I have a problem with.

I've asked this many times here before. I got brilliant answers like "Why do women need multiple pairs of shoes?"

The second amendment says he can. Unless you believe there is support for a constitutional amendment to limit gun ownership, this line of argument is a total waste of time.

If there were in Connecticut, bet money they weren't. Teachers for the most part can't bring guns to school, my mother just retired from teaching, and she taught in a very bad neighborhood. I didn't say get rid of all the guns I am saying work on something to limit it.

The purpose of the second amendment is to deter tyranny. Limiting the number of guns people can own inhibits the ability of the citizenry to form an effective deterrent.

Come on, Ev..this isn't that complicated.
