  1. 1. What should the national response be to this tragedy?

    • There shouldn't be a national response at all.

RT @Suntimes: ABC News reports 1 shooter at Sandy Hook Elementary was a 24-year-old in a bulletproof vest with 4 guns. #developing

4 weapons to take on defenseless kids. Awesome.

All that matters is that 18 babies are gone. My brain can't even process this.

Instead of giving them apples we need to start arming our teachers and students with snipers and bombs just in case. Going to Macy's? Bring a semi automatic.

Right? If only kindergarten students were allowed to conceal and carry. Gun problem? What gun problem?

This is nothing security can't solve. Truth is there is no need to ban guns to prevent stuff like this in schools. Just ramp up security. Yes, that will mean more taxes but communities that want safe schools will pay for it.

I walked in to a nice suburban high school in this area to hand in a form for my wife with absolutely no one asking me why I'm there. Just walked in and walked around. It's pathetic. Not until I got to the union rep room did someone actually address me.

Schools need more security. It's not just for the inner city anymore.

Ugh the press conference is still delayed. We're still on standby waiting on the police presser. So the unconfirmed preliminary info is going between 26-27 dead and 14-18 of them are children between the ages of 5-10 and the suspected shooter is dead. The only confirmed thing right now is from the hospital and that's 3 people were transported there that are critically wounded. That makes the total involved around 31. Finally we're getting a signal for the police presser so it could be soon. They're saying they think the press conference is delayed because we aren't certain if the shooter or suspected shooters have been accounted for.

I just read a study on security in schools, there were arguing the metal detectors and such really didn't help too much. I went to that type of school when I was younger, they find ways to bring weapons in. One time a guy was stabbed 37 times in the head, awful stuff. There has to be a solution everyone can live with. Problem is how do you appease those who praise the 2nd amendment, without endangering those who have no weapons.

If a metal detector doesn't detect a man with 4 guns, that means the detector didn't work or it did work but the humans who were supposed to intervene did not.

Or the guns were made of jello.

So your saying people get to keep their 15 guns and a 1000 rounds but taxes go up? That's a very tough decision for too many people.

Looking at the area this took place, I'll bet there were no metal detectors in place, or the guy came in from a different entry point. At this point it's mostly speculation.

Right. What I'm saying is if communities want safe schools they're going to need to pay for it.

Because the 2nd Amendment isn't going anywhere.

I've have some friends that live in Newtown. It's a pretty affluent place, so I doubt there's metal detectors at any of the schools.
