  1. 1. What should the national response be to this tragedy?

    • There shouldn't be a national response at all.

When I saw that the two handguns used were a glock and sig sauer, one has to wonder what a kindergarten teacher would want with those?

why does the make of each mean so much? would it have mattered if they were s&w and taurus?

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Than you are wrong there have been cases where person carrying concealed weapon has saved lives of ppl.

Recent one was in some cafe in Florida where grandpa saved ppl when armed robber tried to tob the place and take hostage.

You do not hear about them as they are not much of hot news for news media..you will find a little article burried in pages media would not put it on front page.

From media perspective it is not a sensational news when someone conceal carrying saves the lives.

PPl who conceal carry do not carry assault rifles on them.

Yes I DO remember that story. And it was a wonderful story. HOWEVER, the criminal wasn't armed with a weapon in each hand and also didn't have any bullet proof clothing attire.

In the Aurora shooting, I recall the shooter had head to toe full body armor. In this particular shooting, by all media reports the shooter wore "military gear" (? whatever that means) and in other reports I'm hearing he wore a bullet proof vest( we'll find out later about that one). NOW, I suppose the average guy that owns a few pistols he takes to the range occasionally feels he can take out a person armed as such, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Just keep the guns out of citizens hands they are not mature enough to handle one.

And how do you quantify that ? I don't know ? It's like driving at 16. Some are ready some are not ready at 26 ?

There has been more drug abuse in American school as well, prob more bullying problem at schools too but the main question is what is leading kids to take such an action.

Like this one seemed there was some family problem as kid shot her own mother and kids in her class.

I think drug abuse among scholl age kids is down. Back in my day everyone smoked weed and drank, or a lot anyway and bullying was rampant. I think both are less of a problem now.

Well, if the name isn't impressive , how about a visual. Can you imagine a kindergarten teacher that would want one of these? :bonk:

People not fit to handle firearms having easy and ready access to firearms. That's the root cause.

.

If people not qualified to own firearms, having them, is the root of this problem, then why was this un heard of back in the day, when there was no such thing as any form of Gun Control ??? Not trying to be argumentative or pick a fight, but realsitcally that just does not logically make sense since we have more gun control than any time in our countries history. Guns were much more aviliable and accepted 30-40 years ago and this never happened. Something else has changed.

We use to keep guns in our college dorm rooms and it was never an issue.

I just heard that as well. When I saw that the two handguns used were a glock and sig sauer, one has to wonder what a kindergarten teacher would want with those? Sounds like she might have been an enabler. Not sure if this is corrrect but I also "heard around" that he was a druggie (maybe he couldn't pass a background check?)

So tell me why the Sig Sauer and Glock are way more dangerous than say a Phoenix brand hand gun. You watch too much network news. The brand name had nothing to do with it.

Back in the day....did you have unlimited availability to military grade weapons and the ability to purchase unlimited amounts of ammunition on the internet? You guys could have had your own stockade?

I never said it did. That was your own notion. I never insinuated that, just was stating the facts from reports. Carry on.

I posted on that below before I saw your post. It matters because CBS beat that point to death tonight and people that don't know any better thought " Wow those are dangerous guns " LOL. I personally would not have a prefrance if were to be shot by a .40 Glock as opposed to a .40 S and W LOL

I thought i seen it all in m time but this one is way out of wack. The world is going to hell at a fast pace.

we can agree on that and when it breaks lose I will be well armed with my dangerous looking evil Assault weapons. For those of you who hate guns but have food I will come see you !

Yes back in the day we had a lot more access to weapons.

So what is a military grade weapon and why is it more dangerous than other weapons ?

Did you know that prior to 193o's anyone could buy fully auto weapons and we never had this issue ?

I think smoking weed and now the younger generation have the RX pill party or exprimenting with things like xtasy are more of the problem.

Kid have to fit in the culture at school or they are the looser and there are kids who are always made fun off ... one of those kids goes on this kinda rampage just to get back at the students who made fun of them.

Today's incident does not fit into it as more detail come out we would know what exactly happen as it seems this kid was not attending this school and he shot her own mother.

Today's incidents seems more of some kinda family deal in which innocent children who had nothing to with got killed.

Isnt this cool. Wasn't available to the public until the mid 80's. But due to demand they've developed better , more efficient models (translations - better mass killing machines).

Everybody should own one

Ahh I see this gun looks like the ones in Movies so it is a bad deadly gun. As opposed to my remington model 1100 loaded with .00 buck. which has nice wood grain stocks and looks like a hunting gun so it is not a problem.

Guess which one I would rather defend my home with or for that matter which one would be more dangerous in a public shooting situation.

See the problem is all you know about guns is what you google or see on TV. Most of which is wrong.

I guess. I don't have an answer. We have a problem. Banning guns is not the answer.

I guess you're in the superhero camp that thinks if ONLY you had been there, you could have saved all those people with your BIG BAD deadly gun.

I'm interested for more facts to emerge about what kind of "military gear" this guy was wearing and whether any of you macho studs could have put a dent in his defense.

Personally, all I need in my home is a double barreled shotgun. I don't even have to be a good shot and nobody is walking away from that without a dent.
