  1. 1. What should the national response be to this tragedy?

    • There shouldn't be a national response at all.

Let me check if gasoline is in the constitution.

LOL.

Societies must have consequences for things. If we are going to protect the right to bear arms, but that right is increasingly impinging on other citizens, then we have to do something about it.

It seems to me that a tax on weapons would be preferable to restrictions on them (at least from the standpoint of those who wish to buy them).

More restrictive gun laws i think all guns should be banned from citizens and current gun owners should lose there rights to own a fire arm.

Well, then this guy shows up and says exactly what I think doesn't get said around here ...

I won't be going through all 11 pages -

I truly hope that the media will concentrate not on the shooter, but on the victims. 27 dead, 18 children from kindergarden to 4th grade.

Unbelievable and absolutely heartbreaking.

I just immigrated to Connecticut 4 months ago - everyone I know is in mourning.

What a tragedy.

Breaks my heart, what a friggin sicko. Now Fox says that he killed his mother who taught at the school, and the victims were primarily her students.

I'll wait for a reliable news source to report that.

Apparently some of the news media outlets have posted facebook pictures of the wrong Ryan Lanza. He is posting that he didn't do it and he is pissed off big time.

The news just confirmed that the shooters father was killed also.

It's too bad that these murders always end up killing themselves, are shot by police or end up in prison. They get the easy way out while the victims families suffer for the rest of their lives.

This is an absolute tragedy with children being murdered. The shooter should be kept barely alive and tortured for a few decades.

Some of these post on here make me feel homicidal at times. I think we should start taxing forum post.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

So what did kids do when they didn't have all these wannabee school shrinks prescribing meds for them? We didn't have that ####### when I was in school and when you messed up you got a whipping, not some whack job LWN parent excusing the kid for being a brat because Little Johnny isn't really a misbehaved jerk off, he's just "misunderstood" or "creative". Then again you didn't see these mass killings back then either. I guess it was done all wrong back then and today's method is way better hence all the whack jobs doing this kind of ####### like in the OP.

no, look, my son was diagnosed as add in the first grade. the first thing the school and the doctors want to do is drug him up. i refuse. i fight the school and the school board to get my sons 'special education' permit..better known as an iep. at every meeting, at every conference, drugs are recommended. i refuse. because my son has an iep he receives more individualized attention at school. this helps his grades, which help his self confidence, which help him blend in with the other kids. he is in the fifth grade now, still off meds and still struggling BUT the school and the teachers leave me alone. they don't hound me any more about putting him on medicine. when you have a child you have to be that child's biggest supporter. and that doesn't mean defending your child's behaivior good or bad or always going after the teacher or other children. it means taking charge of their entire education and health and not putting it off on anyone else. whipping kids is not the answer to anything..telling kids they have to be stronger than their bullies isn't the answer either.
