  1. 1. What should the national response be to this tragedy?

    • There shouldn't be a national response at all.

when you read his tweets its easy to see this guy was a ticking time bomb. how come no one did something about this?

He seems to have been suffering from some sort of depression. Though we have no way of knowing if he was being treated for it or if he was just being dramatic.

This is where the "have thicker skin" argument fails. Some people need help and they aren't getting it. To tell those people to toughen up is creating more problems than it's solving.

Bingo!!! Best post Iv'e seen you make on this board and it was a good one.

Why are all these whack job killings happening now when they were almost non existent 30 years ago? Society is my guess. Weak people with weak minds. Today's America is nothing like it was in the 80's and before then. Now every one needs a pill and every one has a weak excuse for being weak minded. One big nanny state has created most of these whack job kids these days.

well maybe that's because you haven't been reading any of my posts. people have the right to arm themselves. i've never said anything to the contrary.

i don't however, prescribe mental illness as a weakness or being weak minded. that, my dear, is where you are completely ignorant. our brains have inherent processes, they sometimes malfunction, no matter how strong you consider yourself..

Nobody here EVER proposes that idea, and yet people always bring it up.

wth? It's been proposed in this forum several times since I registered here in 2007 and as recently as yesterday.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

This has failed in court before because you cannot put a sin tax on a constitutional right.

So what is the foundation for the high taxes on gasoline then? Maintenance of the roads.

Tax guns to pay for public security.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

So what did kids do when they didn't have all these wannabee school shrinks prescribing meds for them? We didn't have that ####### when I was in school and when you messed up you got a whipping, not some whack job LWN parent excusing the kid for being a brat because Little Johnny isn't really a misbehaved jerk off, he's just "misunderstood" or "creative". Then again you didn't see these mass killings back then either. I guess it was done all wrong back then and today's method is way better hence all the whack jobs doing this kind of ####### like in the OP.

I've yet to see anyone in these numerous gun threads say "ban them all"

Wanting stricter gun laws does not equal wanting to take the guns away from the law abiding citizens. Yet the pro-gun people always think people are trying to take what's theirs.
