Hello everyone, first hope everyone is keeping well

Today I recieved my forms from London to fill in....

DS-230 part1

DS-156

DS-156K

DS-157

Just a few questions if somebody would be kind enough to give me and Amie some advice.

1) Its asks for police certificates for not only home country but any other country I have lived in for over a year, I have lived in USA for 12 months not so long ago, in California, does this mean I have to get a US police cert to or does this not matter as it was USA. If I do need to get one does anybody know how to get this as it is really worrying us

2) The Medical, I was always under the impression that I took the medical on the morning of the interview, after reading this letter it looks as if I can get it done before I even get an interview date...Is this correct?

Sorry for being so clueless on this, Hope somebody can enlighten us

Thanks

I don't know if all Embassy requirements are the same but when I went with my fiance to the interview she had said if he has stayed in anyplace longer than 6 months he would need a police certificate. Someone will probably have a definite answer on that one.

I believe you need to go at least 10 days before the interview so they receive you result in time. Again your Embassy might be different.

It is better to ask ahead of time than to have a hold up down the road.

Good luck!

I think you will need a police certificate from the USA because you already showed on the G-325 that you lived there for the period you did. If you go online, you can get the police website for the town you lived in and email them, they likely will help you with that.

For the sake of those of us expecting a letter from the embassy, do you have to mail back anything back to the embassy so as to get an interview date?

matako Yes you fill in these 4 new forms that the embassy give you a link too and send them back, then I think you recieve the interview date.

So looks as if I will have to somehow get a US police cert, I have no idea how to do this though

Whole process is just hard and drawn out :(

Just found this address for anybody who may have the same problem....

http://www.***removed***/immigration/police-certificates.html

Says not to get a police certificate for USA on there as they do not do them, look correct to anybody else? Will be a huge relief if this information is correct and I don't have to get one from there too

Police certificates

Police certificates are required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older. The table below shows how many police certificates are required based on where each applicant lives and has lived previously. Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/medexam.html

The Medical Examination

The medical examination is performed at one of two medical centers in London. The medical examination cannot be performed by the applicant's own physician.

Detailed information on the location of the medical centers and scheduling the medical appointment will be provided to the applicant when he or she receives notification of the date and time of the formal visa interview.

The medical examination must take place before the visa interview. The medical results will be couriered to the Embassy within 2 – 3 workdays of the examination.

Just to reiterate what an above poster has said YOU DONT NEED A POLICE CERTIFICATE FOR LIVING IN THE USA.

I was worried about this as well as i'd spend 18 months in the USA - in 2 diferent counties.

It is buried in the wording that the certificate for USA is not needed.

Make sure you get your police record from UK ASAP as it takes about 28 days.

Also ensure you have a long form birth certificate as they don't take the short form.

(Long form has your parents names etc on it).

I had my medical interview before my VISA interview.

When I called there was only a short wait. I think it is good to get the medical out of the way.

Good Luck

Steve
