I received the notice be after I checked my case status online. Can anyone tell me what the quoted sentence mean? "your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F" Please see the entire sentence below. Thank you!

Initial Review

On November 7, 2012, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators

Rest of the report given to me after the checked my case status below:

If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition

Well have you ever received a US visa before? You would have received an A# at that time.

Hmmm, maybe a computer glitch? The wording just doesn't seem to go together, perhaps it was entered in correctly?

**moving to K1 Process**- this is a K1 question

As far as I'm aware (please feel free to correct me, someone) this is just a stock message to imply they have created a number - the system simply isn't set out to recognise a difference between creating and changing one. It seems lately this is the number one question people are asking, so I don't know if there's more to it or not as it's been a fair while since I went through the process.

This happened to me but with change of address form. I was really nervous and called USCIS several times until I got through to a tier 2 manager who told me that they have had several computer glitches lately. Nothing has happened to our case and it doesn't mean we will be approved soon. If you want you can call USCIS and check but it takes a while for a tier 2 officer to answer. Good luck

Thank you everyone for the responses! I hope it's miscue somewhere in uscis' system and not what I did wrong or didn't do. I'm very sure we filed our case properly with alot of thought and detail put into it in terms of the evidence we provided. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I will also call uscis to verify. Thanks!

Make sure you speak to a tier 2 officer. The customer service representatives I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and when I spoke to the tier 2 officer she told me they just read from a script and really don't know what is going on with your case since they do not have access to more detailed information on cases.

The last time I saw this happen, it was the foreign fiance(e) receiving a new A number. Either it's a glitch, or someone has petitioned the foreign fiance(e) before.

If you're a US born citizen, you don't have an A number.

A tier 2 human is one that can actually see more than you can. Tier 1 humans can't see(or do) more than you can.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

Its good to receive this message, it means u r about for approval, ok as per my knowledge A# is for petitioner, see I-129F can file USC only, so as per ur fiance/fiancee previous marriage already he/she aloted A#, so if he or she intend to marry 2nd time so obviousley previous A# replace with new A#, so actually they are informing the petitioner that his/her A# has been changed.

So its good sign to receive this message......if any body else has other experience then they can make me correct.

THANKS.

Goodmorning Everyone,

Thank you all for the responses. Your feedbacks has gotten me very encouraged! I will call uscis and try to speak to a tier 2 person to find out exactly. But I think all of your explanations make very good sense so I'm glad something positive is moving my way!!!

And seriously, it is amazing how much I am learning about this process just by finding this forum. I wish we had found this site b4 applying. I appreciate you all, and goodluck to everyone who is also waiting.
