I was bullied a few times, cornered twice. In both cases I felt the need to defend myself. In both cases I was suspended along with the attacker, but with a lesser term. I hate to sound partisan here, but it was my first taste of "liberal justice"...and I didn't like it.

thats one of the advantages (if you wanna call it that) of having spent that portion of my childhood in india. no one ever called the cops. i fought back a few times, once i got lucky and really hurt a kids eye. he was bleeding from it and ran away crying. one of my few "yay!" moments in my personal fights with bullies.

That is not being partisan, that is being a kid.. although I can understand that the liberal notion that authority in the form of a principal or the police should be the means by which to redress a grievance at school might be foreign to some.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

when we first moved to india, i was 10 and everyone knew we just moved there from california. there was some degree of animosity towards me because of that. these two older boys, they were 17 or so at the time, decided to "let me" catch a chicken they got. a live chicken. they told me to go pick it up. assured me it would be easy. of course it was not. it was a square courtyard kind of area and i ran around trying to get this thing and the two dudes kept laughing and tripping me over and pushing me in the chickens direction pretending they were helping me but really i was just being laughed at. i never did catch that fukcing chicken.

In the first instance no one told admin, but he couldn't stop the bleeding from his nose so the nurse found out. The second time, I actually didn't fight back. I was threatened in class that I would be attacked afterwards so I warned admin. He had friends in that class that said I threw a punch (which I didn't...I did swat him away after he punched me in the back of the head).

In both cases, I was suspended for two days and the attacker for the week.

No its the notion that there is no right to defend oneself no matter how cornered. In the first instance, I was shoved down a flight of stairs and about to be kicked down a second.

You could and you did, knowing there is also a price to pay for taking matters in one's hands.

I think it's most schools policy to bust both involved in a fight even if one is defending himself. It's a total bs rule.

Agree it's a total BS rule, but how do they decide who started it?

There's usually other kids who saw it, although the teacher and/or principle goes for the kid they don't like more times than naught.
