didn't we teach the brits about gun xtrol in 1776-1783, and again in 1812?

Canada won the war of 1812.

Regardless of this, most, if not all, of your posts are racist, sexist, and of a bullying nature (not to mention you have delusions of grandeur). You are also very ill-informed. I'm wondering if it's all a ruse and you just sit back and watch all of us jump on your posts and tear them apart as if it was all according to plan.

I thought Canada wasn't even a country until 1867?

Not officially a confederacy until 1867. We became independent in 1838. But there was definitely a Canadian identity in 1812. Many of our forefathers were FROM the US (and other parts obviously), but they knew they were neither British nor American. They just wanted to keep their land so they fought off the invading army.

It's a fun bonus, being allowed to disregard the forum rules and post whatever you'd like. Only a few are so lucky, though.

that guy was a milk truck driver, not a farm boy.

anyway, look at the statistics. violent crime is mostly drug related. violent crime is down 35% in the USA in the last 30 years. shall issue laws cover 43 states, now. there were none 30 years ago. evil black rifles are falling off trees now. there were very few 30 years ago. almost all of the "multiple indiscriminate shooters" in recent history have been novice city kids that spent too much time watching action fantasy movies. do the math. it's piss poor parenting and liberal indoctrination.

Back when I was in school you took your lumps and ####### kickings and you didn't go whacko and start shooting your class mates. Freshman used to get their heads stuck in the toilet while being flushed (swirly's) just for being freshman. Nobody cried about it. If you got the dog ####### kicked out of you after school you lumped it and when it came to pay back time there weren't any guns involved. It's these sensitive weirdo emo kids these days that aren't playing with a full deck. Their yuppie parents helped sissify them and this is what we have today. A new breed of nutters.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

That reminded me of a scene from the movie Friday. I dug up the script. I love that movie.

[Craig's father catches him with a handgun]

Mr. Jones: What's that for?

Craig: Protection.

Mr. Jones: Protection from who?

Craig: Me and Smoke...I've got to walk Smokey down to his house.

Mr. Jones: Aw, man. Your mother and I never would've moved to this neighborhood if we'd known you need a gun to walk down the damn street.

Craig: You know how it is 'round here.

Mr. Jones: Oh, no, son. That's not the way it is. You kids have been nothin' but punks. Sissified. So quick to pick up a gun. Too scared to take an ####-whipping. [raises his fists] This is what makes you a man. When I was growing up, this was all the protection we needed. You win some, you lose some. But you live. You live to fight another day. Now you think you're a man with that gun in your hand, don't you?

Craig: I'm a man without it.

Mr. Jones: Put the gun down.

[Craig complies]

Mr. Jones: C'mon, put up your dukes.

[Craig raises his fists]

Mr. Jones: Now you're a man. Your uncle picked up a gun, too. He found out the hard way. 22 years old. You've got a choice. This is all you need, alright?

Movie or not the dad was correct. Last thing you need is for your kid to do 20 to life while taking out another kid just because he was teased at school not to mention the life taken. Too many uncalled for deaths these days over nothing. Kids these days need thicker skin.

Kids these days need thicker skin.

Having a "thick skin" doesn't mean that kids should tolerate abuse or harassment.

Parents teaching their children what's acceptable behavior and what isn't would help a bit.

actually, it kind of does. learning to "brush it off" and not associate your own sense of self with what those who do not wish you well say about you is a skill all kids need.

I'm not arguing that. It's a skill all kids need, but is easier said than done. I think it's also putting too much of the blame on the victims, rather than the bullies. In a perfect world, nobody would care about what anyone else thought about them (especially as children) but children ALSO wouldn't abuse and harass students and get away with it.

Bullies should not have a free ride to stalk kids on the internet, harass them on a daily basis in schools, make their lives miserable and have it shrugged off as "well, the victim needs thicker skin!"

That's when you and your buddies catch the culprits off school grounds and give them the ####### kicking of their life. We used to use "fish beaters". They look like small wooden baseball bats that are used for knocking out Halibut and other large fish. They would fit right under the seat of your truck. They also came in handy at keggers when things got out of control.
