Anyone know how long this takes?

Are the involved parties all in Nigeria ? You must pay for the tests and then the processing would be between 1-3 months then a second interview. You are probably looking at about a 4 month delay.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Ok this is what i've learned...

The hubby scanned a copy of the DNA request form to me and sent me the phone number he was given by the embassy.

I called the American Association of Blood Banks. I then forwarded the scan and started the process.

The lady told me for 3 test kits and processing and shipping, it cost $695..

They take a deposit of $250 cc or debit and you can make 3 monthly payments or, you can pay in full whenever. For the $250 they send the kit to the embassy

process the samples and return the results to the embassy and me. It will take them about one week to get the kit to the embassy.

On the letter the embassy form says it could take up to 3 weeks to get each appointment. The samples are collected and returned to the US for processing.

The hubby wants to come home next week so he will complete his test at a clinic not far from me. Then he will fly back there once they have

received the results for the final disposition. Looks like it could be another 2-3 months.

He said that the CO looked at the letters, school forms, affidavits and such but really focused in on the pictures.

Also he said they told everyone ahead of them to get the DNA test. I'm not surprised about the DNA test just feeling a little blue cause the kids will miss Christmas

So on the one hand the kids have to wait a little longer. While on the other hand he'll be here next week.

If any of this looks wrong please let me know..

You're pretty correct. Have family who are going through the same thing in Jamaica. It's kinda confusing to me in terms of the back and forth. I was told the whole DNA process could take 6-8 weeks (and it being Christmas/December isn't even factored into the wait time :( ) for the embassy in Jamaica so contact the lab doing the test and ask them the average processing time for Nigeria.

Even though they'll miss Christmas, at least the 2-4 months that will pass puts them landing in the US in spring when temps are nice. Hopefully they don't out grow their boots for the upcoming winter.

Coming from Nigeria they may wear winter coats long after yours is hung up. My husband thinks anything under 80 is freezing.

Well I guess I'll update with what we have so far:

The DNA kits left via FedEx on Friday. As soon as they arrive I will start calling/emailing the embassy to see if we can set up a collection

date before the kids head back to school. Once they go in for collection the fee charged according to the AABB rep is 5000naira for the first child

and 2500 for the second child.
