so after the follow up interview which is coming up in a few days, the dna test has been completed and processed. the window appointment the embassy calls it, what happens? they get approved possibley and then have to wait one to three weeks for visa to come in mail???? why do they want the passport, is the visa not just a stamp in the passport? is the visa given to the children upon approval during this "window apt" coming up in a few days? i read on the internet they don't hand the visa out at the embassy. Is that true? They have to come in the mail several weeks after approval???? somebody tell me please. would like some hope the children will be here by christmas. their apt is in a few days. follow up from their interview early october where they gave us a blue sheet and asked for dna at the last minute. just trying to figure out how this last part works.

A visa looks like this: http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=19

Its not a simple "stamp". It takes time for the embassy to print and affix it in your passport that's why you will have to wait before you can receive your passport back.

I've got just one answer - no, a visa is not just a stamp in the passport.

Why people leave their passports in the embassies? To have their visas inserted in them.

but what's the fastest way to get the visa in your hand? can you express them? can you have them sent to an airport to be faster? all things i have herd. emailed the embassy, they take a few days to respond tho

When approved, they are sent to the DHL counter to pay for the visa delivery. You can ask for them to be delivered to a home address or stay at a DHL office for pick up. We picked up in Kingston. The visa's are ready anywhere between 5 days and 3+ weeks. There is no rhyme or reason why some are quicker or longer.

good morning, i called dhl in jamaica they said a visa for a visit stay is ready in 4 days toa week. a visa for permanent residence is ready longer, up to a month. does this sound right.

Maybe it is right or maybe it is not. I don't think anyone really knows expect the embassy officials. I have seen them processed in 2 days, I have seen them processed in 5 days and I have seen them processed 2-3 weeks and this is for all different visa's. Even after blue sheet appointments.

What I have learned is that no two cases are ever treated the same PERIOD!! I had a friend who was wanting to travel back with her fiancee and waited for over two weeks for the visa to be in hand. As soon as she left the visa was ready for pick up a week later. I also know of someone who received it within 48 hours after interview. Just be glad you are at this phase. This is going to feel like the longest haul.. Errr the waiting game sucks

Everyone goes through another AP process after approval, which can be anytime from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, depending upon how organized your paperwork is, and if they need additional information. You are looking for 3 visas being processed, I doubt they will be ready in four days.
