Ethno-religious cleansing via terrorism, such as fire bombing houses of worship. Keep it klassy Kip, keep it klassy.

Ya because we both know there's an epidemic of mosque being burnt down in the US. I mean it's all over the news here every day. BTW would you like me to start posting some real news stories with actual links of Christians being persecuted within the past few years in Muslim countries? Give me the go ahead. I'l start with the Coptic Christians in Egypt seeing how this topic is in reference to Egypt. :)

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

This is, of course, far from the only incident of its kind; to the contrary, in a trend largely ignored by the American media, hate crimes against American Muslims are at epidemic levels. After a mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee triggered intense community opposition when it attempted to expand in 2010, a fire that was ruled to be arson damaged the mosque; after facing years of vandalism, bomb threats, and efforts by local and state officials (including state judges) to block its expansion, the mosque was finally able to open only this week only after the DOJ and a federal judge (to their credit) intervened on the ground that the mosque’s religious liberty was being infringed.

In October of last year, a Texas man pled guilty “to a hate crime charge stemming from an arson of a children’s playground at the Dar El-Eman Islamic Center in Arlington,” and admitted that the fire was “part of a series of ethnically-motivated acts directed at individuals of Arab or Middle Eastern descent associated with the mosque.” In August of last year, an Oregon man was indicted “on federal hate crime and arson charges for intentionally setting fire to the Salman Alfarisi Islamic Center.” In May of last year, a fire at a mosque in Stockton, California was ruled to be arson. Last year in southwest Houston, surveillance cameras “captured images of a group of at least three men in masks” attempting to set fire to a local mosque; “prayer rugs at the back of the mosque were doused with gasoline.”

Last year in Dearborn, Michigan, a serious attack on one of the nation’s largest mosques was thwarted when a man was arrested carrying large amounts of explosives. In Massachusetts last year, the Islamic Society of Greater Worcester was set on fire by a man apprehended before the fire could spread. A fire that seriously damaged a mosque in Wichita, Kansas on Halloween night last year was ruled to be arson. In July of this year, a South Carolina mosque was vandalized; such vandalism against American mosques is incredibly common. On the 4th of July this year, the home of a Pakistani Muslim family in Texas, who have lived in the U.S. for 15 years, had the word “Terrorist” spray-painted onto it and then had ignited fireworks left on their doorstep. Attacks this common and dangerous on churches or synagogues would be a national scandal.

All of this reveals a broader truth: Islamophobia in the United States is pervasive and intense, and worse, is as ignored and tolerated as it is destructive. The greatest harm from these incidents is not to the property they damage. It’s the climate of fear that is created for Muslims living in the United States. As I’ve written about before, it’s hard to put into words how palpable and paralyzing this fear is in American Muslim communities. It’s infuriating to behold: perfectly law-abiding citizens and legal residents feeling — rationally and accurately — that they are subjected to constant surveillance, monitoring, suspicion, denial of basic rights, hostility and worse solely because of their religion and ethnicity.

This happens because overt expression of Islamophobia is, far and away, the most accepted form of bigotry in mainstream American precincts. Now and then, certain expressions of it are so extreme as to embarrass mainstream circles — Peter King’s Congressional investigation into The Enemy Within or the Michele Bachmann attacks on Hillary Clinton’s Muslim aide — and are thus roundly condemend, but more often than not, they are perfectly acceptable.

There you have it. With this crime wave against Muslims in the US at an epidemic rate I can't understand why any Muslim would even think about immigrating to the US. Someone should warn them now.

btw the Murfeesboro Mosque burning hit all the news, and as far as the fireworks on the porch at Halloween...well I'm sure those people are packing their bags as I type this. Thank god it wasn't a burning bag of dog poop or it could have been lethal.

Kassim Alhimidi, Iraqi-American, Pleads Not Guilty To Murdering His Wife, Shaima Alawadi

By JULIE WATSON 11/13/12 08:22 PM ET EST

EL CAJON, Calif. — There were signs that her traditional Muslim family may have been struggling in the U.S. even before Shaima Alawadi was murdered: Court documents say she was contemplating a divorce, and her teenage daughter was resisting an arranged marriage.

Authorities initially believed Alawadi died as part of a hate crime. Now, they say the Iraqi-American woman was killed by her husband during a domestic dispute.

The suspect, Kassim Alhimidi, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a murder charge during a brief appearance via a video monitor in Superior Court, where the couple's teenage daughter Fatima Alhimidi cried quietly in the courtroom in El Cajon.

Kassim Alhimidi was ordered held without bail after prosecutors noted he recently traveled to Iraq and was a flight risk. If convicted, he could face 25 years to life in prison.

The killing of the 32-year-old Alawadi drew international attention after their daughter said she found a note by her mother's bludgeoned body that read: "Go back to your country, you terrorist."

These things are happening all over the place," Burleigh said. "It's much more openly discussed in Europe where there is more integration from these societies, where in the U.S. it's not discussed so much partly because we have a bias toward discussing the way these cultures treat women."

El Cajon, the San Diego suburb where the couple and their children lived, is home to about 40,000 Iraqis.

Alhimidi's arrest last week occurred only days after the sentencing of an Iraqi mother who was charged in Phoenix with beating her daughter because she refused to go along with an arranged marriage. The 20-year-old woman was burned on her face and chest with a hot spoon then tied to a bed. The victim's father and sister were also sentenced to two years of probation for their involvement.

COPTS AND ROBBERS: 3,000 Muslims Burn, Loot Egyptian Christian Village

On the surface, it’s another attack on a Coptic Christian village by a Muslim mob, this time 3,000 of them, burning homes and shops to the ground and looting where they could on January 28th. The violence started after a rumor was spread that a Coptic man had an allegedly intimate photo of a Muslim woman on his mobile phone. The Coptic man, Mourad Samy Guirgis, surrendered to the police for his protection.

But, as Wendy Wright of Christian Freedom International (CFI), can explain, beneath the story is an even greater concern—a systemic case of Christian persecution that is growing since Mubarak was toppled, the military assumed control and the Muslim Brotherhood continues to win parliament seats.

According to witnesses, when the violence began in this most recent incident, it took the authorities one hour to drive two kilometers to the scene. It is a trend, they say, whereby the army stands down until the Muslim perpetrators satisfy their thirst for violence and their aggression begins to abate. Then, the army finally shows up.

It is one of many signs indicating Egypt’s new powers that be have little intention of protecting its Christian citizens.

Egypt and the Plight of The Copts

Posted: August 21, 2012

While 75 million Christians are being terrorized in Nigeria, Egypt’s 10 million Coptic Christians are not faring any better. Recent reports indicate that over 100,000 Copts have already fled the country since the election of Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohammad Morsi, as President of Egypt. It is sad day day for the nation when a noble peopl, with a history in Egypt that began hundreds of years before the existence of Islam are forced to flee their homeland in fear for their lives.

The latest round of anti- Christian violence began in July when Copts were victims of what has now become known as the “Shirt Sedition.” It satarted when a Christian launderer accidentally burned a Muslim’s shirt. AINA (Assyrian International News Agency) describes what happened next:

“The sectarian incident which, now called the “shirt sedition,” started on July 27 in Dahshur, Badrasheen, 40 km south of Cairo, after the Coptic launderer Sameh Samy inadvertently burned the shirt of his Muslim client Ahmad Ramadan. Although they agreed to meet in the evening to settle the claim, Ramadam did not wait but came back in the afternoon to fight. After some 3000 armed Muslims surrounded the Copt’s home and launderette, he locked himself up in his home. As the fight intensified on both sides with Molotov cocktails, the Copt hurled one fire bomb from the roof of his house, which hit the 25-year-old Moaz, who happened to be passing by. He was taken to hospital, suffering third degree burns. After his death in hospital, Muslim brotherhood clerics and his family vowed to exact revenge, causing 120 terrorized Christian families to flee the village, with only one Christian family remaining behind according to the village priest Takla Abdel-Sayed.”

The already explosive situation took a turn for the worse on August 14 when Egyptian newspaper, El Fegr, revealed that Islamist groups were distributing leaflets calling for the killing of Coptic Christians who refused to convert to Islam. Inquisitr contributor Raymond Ibrahim revealed details of the leaflets inciting Muslims to violence against Christians:

“Titled ‘An Urgent and Important Notice,’ it begins by calling on ‘all brothers and sisters’ to ‘kill or physically attack the enemies of the religion of Allah—the Christians in all of Egypt’s provinces, the slaves of the Cross, Allah’s curse upon them…’ It proceeds to promise a monetary reward for whoever helps ‘achieve Allah’s rights against his enemies.’ “

Since the publication of the leaflets, Coptic Villages in Egypt have been under siege. Muslim mobs have used the slightest provocation as an excuse to go on a rampage of looting , burning, and killing. Journalist Fady Talaat gave the details of one incident for AL Akhbar News:

“In Al Gallaweya Village, Sohag, Upper Egypt, Christians are being beaten, their stores destroyed, and their properties plundered. The attackers are declaring that ‘any Christian who dares to leave his house will be killed’; and the Copts are complaining that the police only arrive after the damage has been completely done.”

It is apparent the the Copts in Egypt are being pushed to the breaking point, and the possibility of extreme violence is growing day by day. Coptic Christian law professor and former member of parliament, Georgette Qellini, spoke of the growing frustration, saying:

“We were previously told that it was the old regime and security authorities which stirred sedition to divert the attention from existing problems facing the government. Now that regime has gone, so who now is the culprit? We flatly refuse collective punishment of Copts. Just because I share some one’s religion, I have to pay the price of losing my home and my job.”

The solution to ethno-religious bigotry and violence in America is to discourage its victims from living in a country founded on religious freedom, got it.

Aren't you concerned about their safety and welfare? Why put someones life at risk in a crazed country like the US. I mean the next thing you know they will be persecuted for defaming Jesus on the net and sentenced to three years in a US prison. Crazy US and it's Sharia Law. You never know what the nutter US courts will do next.

Ah but back to reality. Fact of the matter is the biggest threat to Muslims in the USA are Muslims themselves. Lots of links to post about honor killings in the US.

I doubt the only convicted domestic violence offender posting in this thread has a damn thing worth reading on the topic.

The only one yes? Is that what you got out of that poll of the thousands of members on this board when you asked if they have ever been convicted of domestic violence? Ya you just waved a white flag with that post.

When did "posting in this thread"as in, currently participating in, ie a specific handful of people, start meaning the entire vj website?

My bad. I should have known that you are on a personal level with everyone on this four page thread. Of course that was after you ran a background check on everyone here. Seeing how you didn't have much of a hand to play anyways in regards to this thread topic I can understand you trying to keep an ace in the hole. Best to throw the ace though in hopes of at least pulling a pair.

We've actually had some really and intense conversations about this in my household because my husband is not so happy about the immigration to his country. I'm all for religious liberty, but I think there are a couple of things that are driving this problem.

1. In America, Muslims actually integrate pretty well and tend to not be as radicalised as some of their European brethren. I think that is because American culture is more conservative in general and there is less of a backlash. But a family and a woman has to know that wearing a niqab in a country like Denmark is going to be inflammatory. People should be free to practice their religion, but why move to a country that is very very progressive if you also don't want to be? Nobody held a gun to their head and said "Off to Denmark you go." I was in the immigrant and Muslim area of the city and one of them actually said something racist about me and my daughter being white to her children and all I was thinking was "what cute kids." I've never heard a person say a disparaging remark to a Muslim either here or in America. Actually, all I have seen is people go out of their way to be nice to them.

2. I hate to say it, but there seems to be a prevailing attitude of "we want to be a protected class of people and other's people's rights to their opinions and free speech is not important." I've never seen elements of another ethnic and religious group (save the issues with AIPAC) protest other people's rights to free speech so much. That makes Americans scared and uneasy. http://www.examiner.com/article/muslims-dearborn-rally-against-free-speech-call-for-anti-blasphemy-laws

Obviously not all Muslims believe that free speech should be regulated, but if select elements of the Catholic Church were vehemently protesting your rights to free speech the world over, wouldn't you get a little uneasy about Catholics? :star:

*For the record, I am not uneasy about Muslims, but I think it is plain to see why some are.
