Question on How to Assemble the I-129F

I have a few questions about assembling the I-129F:

I was wondering how I should separate the sections when sending in the Initial Submission of the I-129F.

1- Should I insert a page stating “Proof of having met in person in the past two years” for the evidence part? Or should I just two hole punch and put them all together?

2- Also, what’s an ADCCO fastener? Is it a long clip looking item that goes through each of the two holes at the top of the pages to keep them together? If so, should I just use one fastener or several for each section?

3- The back of my Birth Certificate is blank. I made a copy of it anyway. How should I note that it's the back of my birth certificate? Should I put one of those removeable tabs on it and note it or should I use a pen and write on the copy itself? This also goes for the copy of my visa. I want to show the reviewer where the visa stamps are. What's the best way to do this? Write on the copy or use a removable Post-it tab?

Thanks in advanced for your advice!

For me, I just put them in a separate yellow envelope.

10 envelopes total and label them using the print out label maker.

1: I-129F

2: Proof Of relationship

3: Proof of citizenship

4: and so on..

To ship it, I put all the envelope into a different brown envelope I found at office max. This one is thick and seems more durable.

Each envelope has a summary page listing of what's in it.

I bought some acco fastener, but decided not to use it. Because I just din't like the idea of making holes in all the documents and forms.

Everyone has their own way of puting it together, just remember to make it as origanize as possible. Don't sweat it!

3. I would write on the back of your Cert. indicating that's it's blank

- Stamped page, just photocopy them you should be fine.

Hey I'm no expert, but I'm just puting in my .02 cent. Hope this help

The way I put the package together was first the cover sheet listing everything I was including. Copies vs. Originals, USC vs. Beneficiary, check etc.

I put all my background info, Birth Certificate (the back to mine was blank too so I wrote on it "BACK BLANK", divorce papers and K1 application together with my passport photo clipped to the bundle, then I put my fiances info and his photo clipped to his bundle.

As for proof of relationship, I made copies of all pages of my passport, most recent flight to Greece and a copy from www.theknot.com web page of us, how we met, my friends and family that posted on the guest page.

Hope this helps!

Q: how should I separate the sections?

A: With all our applications, we included a table of contents and put divider sheets between the sections.

Q2: Also, what’s an ADCCO fastener?

A: Available at any office supply store. Office Depot calls them Prong Paper Fasteners. Our box had 50 sets when we started. It now has approximately 40. They are only good for submissions to USCIS :D:whistle:

>> should I just use one fastener or several for each section? We used one fastener for the whole packet. It might be helpful to have separate fasteners if you have large sections--like evidence, in your case.

Q3- The back of my Birth Certificate is blank. I made a copy of it anyway. How should I note that it's the back of my birth certificate? Should I put one of those removeable tabs on it and note it or should I use a pen and write on the copy itself?

A: Just note on the copy of the front that the back is blank. I would not included a blank sheet for the back.

Also, I did use tabs on the sections. However, after seeing my Affidavit of Support, I-134, after it was returned to my wife, I would not go to the trouble again: all the tabs were cut off and in the bottom of the plastic bag.

>>Thanks in advanced for your advice!

You're welcome!

Gabriel look at the pinned guidelines at the head of this forum. There is a great example there and I used it. All we need now is an interview date. Payato

I did similar to people here sugest.

There is no "right way" to assemble the package.

However here are a few pointers:

Obviously remember to include everything

Order everything logicaly.

Include a good amount of supporting evidence - too much is ALWAYS better than too little.

Include a contents list.

Make copies of the ENTIRE package - including evidence sent. (Keep these well organised in a seperate folder.)

Include a simple cover letter stating your name and what you are applying for.

When you send the package - remember to send it recorded delivery or the equivelent so you can track it and be sure it has arrived. NOA1 takes around 2 weeks average but can be more or less.

Finally the hardest point.....prepare to be patient.

The pinned guidelines are fine. I ignored them because I couldn't find ACCO fasteners at the local Staples and figured that packaging probably wasn't that important.

I included a cover sheet that listed the contents in order. Supplements to G325A and I-129F Q18 were clearly labelled as such. Passport photos were each placed in a little baggie and the baggie stapled to a piece of paper. Same with the evidence photos and the payment.

When I first sent in the petition, I binder-clipped the entire packet together. When it was returned because I screwed up the check, all of the clips were gone. The second time I sent it in, I just put it all neatly in the envelope.

2. I would write on the back of the copy of the birth certificate 'back is blank.'

3. On the supplement to question 18, I had a list that described the evidence I included, and I noted on which page of the passport the stamp was. I then included a copy of the whole passport and on the relevant pages I drew red lines to the stamps.

I honestly think how the package is packaged is probably the least of their concerns.

Don't worry or stress too much on presentation. If you decide to use an ACCO fastener, use it to bundle everything including your passport photos together into one packet.

A brief cover letter indicating what you are applying for, with a table of contents listing what you have included in your K-1 application will suffice.

Fancy folders, splitting the submission into numerous sub-categories and groupings etc. will create more work than help for the adjudicator.

I think they really prefer one package fastened with the acco fastners. At the interview your packet will be there still fastened that way but two or three times thicker than when you sent it.

The Acco fastners are really hard to find at staples. They do have them. I looked for an hour and even though I am a guy and guys never ask directions, I asked and in a few minutes was out the door with my fastners.

Darn IMBRA. I have enough fastners left for 98 more fiancees and they are only going to allow me one.

Well, you could file a waiver. Would allow you to get another fiancee, and, as a bonus, you'd get to use up an ACCO fastener. ;)

So, what was the mistake you made on the check? Just cursious because I sent my package on Saturday and realized today that I wrote the money order out to Nebraska Service Center instead of Department of Homelane Security. I have a feeling they will not accept that and will be sending it back to me. UGH :crying:
