Oops, originals sent

I sent with my husband's IV all our originals except for the copy of the passport page. I read somewhere that if we provided copies that we will get the originals back.

Is this the case? I need to know asap so I can start ordering new originals. :bonk:

Feeling pretty stupid right about now.

I just got off the phone with NVC and asked them about this. The female agent told me to request the originals back when we go for our interview, and to not worry about not submitting photocopies.

 That's a load off my mind!

As for as I know, you HAVE to send originals to the NVC (along with a photocopy). I have not heard of them returning your original documents to you at the interview. I would order some extra copies (I got 3 of everything) just to be on the safe side. You will need them in the future.

I've read that several people, at least at the Sydney Consulate, get them back at the interview. I was just concerned because I had read a few posts here that said they only give them back to you if you sent in photocopies as well.

If we don't get them back at the interview, I will go ahead a order a bunch of copies and have them sent to us in the US (if we get approved *crosses fingers*).

anything with NVC Document intake -

be prepared to talk with a Supervisor once the IV Fee bill is paid,

and ASK the supervisor to request : PULL OUT THE ORIGINALS from the I-130 and get them in front of the reviewing human.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I sent our originals as well...I did hear they return them at the interview but I'm not sure myself if this is true at every embassy. I do know they ask for original documents to be sent in though. Good luck!

Jenny

I think my wording in the OP was a little off. I meant to say that I sent ONLY the originals, not the originals plus a copy of them. Cheers for the luck! :D

Different Embassies probably handle things differently. I wish you luck with your process!!!!!!!!

Cheers mate! :D

????? You only send copies to USCIS (I-130), you send originals to the NVC (DS-230).
