i filed 1-751 to remove conditions in february 2011 at the california service center. i got a I-551 stamp in my passport because i wanted to travel this december 2012. My question is why is there too much delay in processing my 10 year green card its going to be 2 years now. i thought removal of conditions on 2 year green card took only 6 months. Is any body experiencing such long delays in processing their I-751 please help

That's #1.

#2: Seems like you filed almost 2 years ago and there has been no response?

#3: Did you file joint petition with your spouse?

#4: You should look into filing for naturalization (N-400) at this point...

You provided almost no details about your case/situation so the answers will be limited to what you wrote here (which ain't much)

Hopefully filing a citizenship application will bump your application along. However I really would be going after your congressmen at this point. Have you called for a status? Is it possible you missed a notice for it?

Irenaka,

A time line would help answer your questions, but if it's been 2 years since you filed then that is too long. Have you checked the status of your case on USCIS website? That would be where you would start. We applied for ROC, (removal of conditions) back in May and still haven't heard anything but people who applied in the same time period before us are being approved. For us I guess it could be any day now.

Wow another one? USCIS must be trolling us.

Listen, by now if you are filed as joint and still married, you are qualified to file naturalization (N-400). This will force them to make a decision on your I751 and get started with your naturalization process.

If you filed in the wavier (aka divorced) as a single applicant, put in a Service Request and ask for the responses to be mailed to you if you haven't done that, by the mean time get hold of your congressman and seek help.

I had to do the same thing, service request, contact my congressman seeking help, i551 and all that stuff. Finally I just filed for N-400 and now I'm a naturalized citizen with a PENDING I751.

You gotta push them, don't let them push you around.

What happens at the expiration of the 1 yr GC extension if the ROC takes longer than a year. Does it automatically extend?

No it does NOT.

By the 11th month of your NOA1 extension, go to your local USCIS office by making an INFOPASS appointment and bring your passport, ask them for an I551 stamp since your ROC is still in the process. The I551 will extend your current status for another year.
