EVERYTHING MUST BE ORIGINAL EXPECT THE COPY OF THE BIOGRAPHICAL PASSPORT PAGE. And you must give them 1 copy of each document you submitted

Acta de matrimonio inextenza (original and 1COPY)

Acta de nacimento inextenza (original and 1COPY)

Hmmm... can't one send it a certified copy of the birth certificate???? (Sorry for hijacking your post Laurie  )

Well it doesn't have to be the one issued at birth, but it does have to be one issued by the government, if possible.

Yes a certified copy of the originals or original is what is required.

and just in case anyone is confused about a certified copy, it is not a copy that you make and get notarized.

It's ordered directly from the gov't authority that issues your country's birth certificates.

Yes, you need to send in the government issued birth certificate for both the petitioner and the beneficiary, raised stamp or the equivalent and all. You will get a RFE if you just send in the photocopy.

Seriously? I've never seen where it says we need to send in the petitioner's birth certificate.

It's not needed for the I-130 (because you can provide copies of passport pages) and after that point is all about the beneficiary.

Have I missed something?

Did I make an oopsie? I have it all ready in my NVC letter, but I just double checked and maybe we don't need it?

I sure hope not. That's one thing I wasn't counting on.

And if I DO need it, my only chance is to grab it this coming week while I'm there =X

I think not, but for whatever weird reason it is listed in my cover letter. I think it was just me being anally retentive and wanting to be extra careful just in case.

Thanks :) Yes,the ones I'm talking about are the certified copies issued by the Registrar of Birth's office.

The DS-230 is all about the beneficary, it has NOTHING to do with the petitioner. All of your documents are for the beneficary. The documents have to be originals (or certified copies from the government's issuing authority) and also a photo copy. I HIGHLY recommend that you write your NVC case number on all of your documents including the B.C., M.C. and P.C.(I did in the upper right hand corner). Also write the beneficary's name, date of birth, and your NVC case number on the back of the 2X2 photos(Using a felt tip pen or fine point marker. A regular pen will damage the photos). I also included translations just to be on the safe side (the instructions say you don't have to if the documents are in the lanugage of the country where your interview will take place, but I had the translations anyway from the CR-1 so I thought that I might as well use them). Include a cover letter listing EVERYTHING that is included in your packet. Good Luck Guys!!!!!!
